Introduction
Well, it’s that time again. Time to knock you upside the head about silly dating mistakes that might be costing you that chance at ever-lasting love and happiness. Or, if nothing else, another date.
This book is for those who’ve mastered (or think they have) the first step of dating—getting a woman to agree to go out with you—and are now trying to figure out how to get from yes, I’ll go out with you
to the actual date and from that first date to a second and from a second to a third.
Beyond that point any advice—other than be a nice person and listen to the woman you’re dating and give her what she wants—starts to fall apart.
(This goes without saying, but you should also be getting what you want out of the relationship, too. And if you can’t get enough of what you want while giving her enough of what she wants, it’s not going to work.)
Anyway. Back to the point of this book.
While my other books have focused on online dating, this book should apply to any sort of dating. There are definitely differences between going on a first date with someone you’ve only met online versus going on a date with someone you’ve actually met in real life, but most of the principles we’ll talk about apply to both.
As I’ve said in my other books, I can’t speak for all women, I can only speak for myself. Why one particular date you went on didn’t work will have to remain one of life’s eternal mysteries. What I can do is give you some insights based on my own personal experiences and reactions.
And since I’m one of the pickiest, most judgmental people I know when it comes to dating—not that most men realize this, which is part of what you need to understand about women—if you can make it past my deal-breakers you should be golden with most women.
Can I guarantee that you’ll be successful with all women after you read this book? No. And you shouldn’t want that. Because some people just aren’t compatible and it’s fine to acknowledge that and move on to better prospects. (Even if she’s really attractive.)
Hopefully after reading this book you’ll be able to fix the basic mistakes a lot of men make that lose them that chance of dating someone wonderful for them. By the time you’re done, you should be able to (a) make it to the actual date, (b) have a good enough time that there’s a second one if you’re interested and interesting to her, and (c) maybe even make it to the next date after that. Beyond that point, whether things continue forward or not will very much be a matter of you and the individual woman you’re dating.
One last thing before we get started: As stated in my other books, I’m writing this book for men interested in dating women. If you’re a man looking for men, some of what I say here is probably applicable, but a lot won’t be. Same for a woman looking for men or women.
So, this book is for men wanting to date women and not doing as well as they’d like.
Does This Sound Familiar?
You meet a woman you like. She’s attractive and interesting and you guys seem to hit it off, so you ask her out. And she say yes. Congratulations! You have a date with a woman you’d like to see more of.
But…
When you try to call her, she doesn’t answer. (Or you find out she gave you a fake number.)
Or if she does answer, she blows you off before you can talk.
Or when you try to make plans to get together, she’s constantly busy.
Or she agrees to get together, but somewhere in between agreeing to get together and actually setting up firm plans, she bails on you. Maybe she says she’s just too busy right now. Maybe she just stops responding.
Maybe you do make plans and she stands you up.
Or cuts out before the date has really begun.
Or you guys have what seems like a great first date and then…nothing. You never hear from her again.
I’ll admit it. I’m guilty of all of the above except standing a guy up and cutting out early once a date starts. (Those two I think are rude, so if I have firm plans with a guy I’ll go on the date and suffer through it no matter how miserable. Or I’ll be decent enough to cancel in advance.)
But all of the rest?
Yep. Done that. More than once.
Why? Why do women say they’ll go out with you and then bail? (Men do this, too, by the way. This
