Meditation: What it is!!!
Meditation has been derived from Latin words: Meditari (to think or to exercise the mind) and Mederi (to heal). Its Sanskrit origin 'Medha' means wisdom.
Meditation is a means of transforming the mind.
A normal individual considers meditation as a worship or prayer. But like all other individual experiences it is difficult to explain in words. Firstly, one has to understand that there are different aspects of mind. The subconscious or unconscious mind which can further be divided into three sets: the subordinate mind, the central mind and the advanced mind. The subordinate mind is concerned with the activation and synchronization of the various actions of the body, such as respiration, circulation, and the abdominal organs and so on. It is also the part of mind which gives growth to natural urges and it is from this part that mind developments, fears, fears and fixations manifest.
The central mind is the part of the mind that connects itself with data that we use during the waking state. It is this part of the mind that examines associates and reaches decisions in relation to received data. The output of the central mind manifests within our conscious attention based on the requirement. It is this part of the mind that gives us responses and reactions. It is the central subconscious mind that does the problem solving without our mindfulness. This is logical or intelligent thinking.
The advanced mind is the area of super conscious activity. It is the foundation of bliss, awareness, intuition and mystical experiences. It is through this region that geniuses develop their sparks of creativity. It is the foundation of bottomless knowledge.
When we meditate we become capable of taking our awareness and mindfulness to different parts of our mind. Generally our consciousness is restricted to external activity in small areas of the sensible parts of the unconscious. It becomes easy to move away from the logical or intellectual side during meditation.
Most people who start to meditate experience outrageous visions and complexes that perhaps they didn’t know existed inside them. Meditation makes them realize their fears that they were not aware of before. This is because the awareness is now functioning in the domain of the subordinate or lower mind. Earlier the mind was only aware of the indicators in the form of resentment, loathing, unhappiness, etc. But once these deep-rooted fears are challenged they can be detached and superior contentment conquered in life.
Higher levels of meditation are tough to achieve if the lower or the subordinate mind does not remove most of the fears. Consciousness is drawn like iron to a magnet to the subordinate mind’s activities and dwells on our fears, obsessions and anxieties.
In advanced stages of meditation the consciousness moves to the higher mind the mediator enters the magnitudes of motivation and brightness. One enters new areas of existence, which used to be mere illusions.
The conclusion of meditation is self-realization. This
