      I love writing romance fiction. It's how I got my start as an author.

      My fond hope is that you will love it too. Romance fiction outsells every other genre by about three times. Readers, both male and female, love romance.

      Let's get started…

      Writing processes: questions and free writing

      Ask questions. Questions are the most powerful tool you have to access your creativity and write more fiction, and better fiction .

      Albert Einstein said: Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited to all we now know and understand, while imagination embraces the entire world, and all there ever will be to know and understand.

      You can access your imagination by asking questions. Your questions can be about anything

      all

      .

      Here's what's important: asking the questions is more important than getting answers. (You’ll get answers — just remember

      ask

      .)

      Questions trigger your unconscious; they make you creative. The answers will come to the questions you asked, and also to those that you didn't.

      I'm sure that this sounds very mystical to you. What can I say? Creativity IS mysterious.

      Your honest serving men: the basic questions

      Rudyard Kipling immortalized the basic questions with his six honest serving men, via his

      The questions are the tools of the journalist. They're the tools of romance

      authors

      too

      .

      Please get into the habit of asking questions; write them down. Remember — you don't have to know the answers, and you don't need to actively look for them. Your unconscious will find the answers for you. Just ask the questions — about anything

      all

      .

      I keep my question lists in Evernote. Evernote is available to me everywhere, whether on my computer, iPad or iPhone.

      Sadly, our schooling has a lot to answer for. Questions can make you uncomfortable. Forget your school days… Ask questions. They're your key to creativity.
