About this ebook
In the animal kingdom, survival is the name of the game—and not everything is as it seems. A number of animals rely on particularly clever tricks to fool predators or prey. A baby bird mimics a poisonous caterpillar. A moth escapes bats by making sounds that interfere with the bats' echolocation. A tiny rain forest spider builds a big spider "puppet" out of bits of dead leaves, insect parts, and other items. Find out more about some of nature's most bizarre and bloodthirsty con artists and meet the scientists who are working to figure out just how they pull off their amazing tricks.

- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This is a book full of a variety of stories that goes behind the science of some of the trickiest animals that exist. The animals range from land to water creatures and is designed similar to a chapter book with chapters but in a short informational format.
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This book is a picture chapter book about how animals use tricks to survive. This is a great book to support how different characteristics of animals increases survival. The book is lengthy, so I probably would not use all of the examples of animals that are shown in the book. The pictures are very informative, and real scientists are featured in this book. A good amount of the scientists are women, alonmt half to be exact, which was nice to see. There was not a lot of racial diversity though. Our of the 10 scientists mentioned, only two were not white. The very first example happens to be camouflage of an owl, which would be a perfect introduction for my CER unit on Owls.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5Also a great informational book that is SO cool. I love that this book has an intriguing story line for each section, and then addresses the science behind the story!
