About this ebook

Most people do not know why God blesses Israel so much. It’s because giving is imbedded in their culture (habits, attitude, beliefs and customs).

In Exodus 23:14 when God says, “Do not appear before me empty-handed”, this is seen as a law to most of the Jews. Tithe was the foundation of all the festivals (Passover, the feast of the ingathering and the feast of harvest - first fruits). That’s why Israel owns most of the buildings in major cities of the world. The promise of Abraham from God is Real Estate.

In times of war it has been hard for most of the nations to defeat Israel because they are God’s first fruit. According to Jeremiah 2:3, Israel was holiness unto the Lord, and the firstfruits of his increase: all that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, saith the Lord.

The Jews constitute but one percent of the human race yet the percentage of Jewish households with an income greater than $50,000 is double that of non-Jews. Forty-five percent of the top 40 of the Forbes 400 richest Americans are Jewish. Twenty percent of professors at leading universities are Jewish. Thirty percent of American Nobel prize winners in science and 25 percent of all American Nobel prize winners, are Jewish.

    Introduction

It is always good to do first things first. Even when God was creating the universe He didn’t do things just anyhow – He did what He needed to do first before bringing man into existence. If God had formed man out of the ground without first creating the Garden of Eden, what do you think would have happened? The greatest problem of man is doing first things in the second place and second things in the first place. Man is always running after miracles, but if we obey the scripture in Matthew 6:33, which says: But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you, miracles will run after us and not the other way round. Consider every step we took that didn’t bring us results; if instead we had first sought the face of God for directions, we wouldn’t have found ourselves in an unwanted situation.

My First Gift to My Biological Father

In Ephesians 6:1-2 the Bible says: Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise. One of the most amazing things that happened to me by grace through prayer, is the ability to give to fathers. I remember my father who was a religious man but yet, a drunkard. He could not understand the gospel of Jesus Christ or even be born again because when he compared himself to me, he was a very good man, better-natured than me, so he failed to comprehend why he should be born again! To him, he was well mannered compared to me, his ‘Christian son’.

One day I sensed that I should buy him a brand new pair of shoes. He had never received a gift from me before because I was not working; I was still a student and living at home. I got some money from the business I was doing and bought him a new pair of shoes and for the first time, I saw my father weeping – tears were flowing from his eyes. From that day onwards, he started getting serious with God, was born again and started giving out handouts for Jesus Christ. My kindness had captured his heart and it was a wonderful sight; I have cherished that moment even to this day. After six months, he passed on to glory; my giving had changed my father completely, and I believe that his good words and utterances about me have developed the foundation that I have today that awesome experience laid the foundation of prosperity that I operate in today.

A Seed of a Car to My Spiritual Father

Another thing that happened to me which is remarkable was when I gave an offering of a car to my spiritual father, that is one of the biggest sacrifices I have ever made. I remember I was showering and I heard a voice which said, Give this Mercedes Benz car which you like most to your father, I immediately responded, I bind you Satan in the name of Jesus. However the voice kept coming into my mind and I realised that if it was Satan it would have stopped I went straight to the phone and said to my father, Come and take this car because if you don’t, I might change my mind. He came from South Africa and took the car back with him.

God doesn’t equal Himself with Satan but in scripture He equals himself with mammon. How can you serve two masters, either you love one and hate the other [Luke 16:13]. In a nutshell, this is the journey of success I am enjoying. I encourage you to join me on this journey. You overcome mammon by releasing money into the offering basket; this shows that money is your servant. You can tell it where to go, but if money determines your behaviour it becomes your master. The principle is that you master whatever you can walk away from.

    My Gift to My Father-in-Law

There are various benefits of being an obedient child of God. This applies even with our biological fathers, step-fathers, in-laws or spiritual fathers. There was a time I bought my father in-law a car. When I gave him the key he forgot protocol and hugged me for a long time saying, May God bless you! several times. He was not even attending church at that time. In my culture as Atumbuka from Malawi, your father in-law cannot hug you, but that gift broke that culture. Children who do the will of their fathers are always more blessed than those who do not. It is natural as a parent that whenever your child pleases you, you are inclined to do something unique for them. So also is God. It doesn’t take too much prayer or gimmicks to please God; all you need to do to please Him is obedience. Period. What I have come to appreciate about God is that any instruction He gives to His children has benefits attached to it. For example, in Isaiah 1:19, 20 the Bible says: If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

    One

Hebrew Words That Show the Difference Between First Fruit and Tithe

    FIRST FRUIT

    1. RESHIYTH: Which means first in place, in time, the first in order, first in rank. It also means the beginning, the first, the principal thing, the captain, the chief, the excellent, the forefront, ruler, top, and summit.

    2. BIKKURIM: It means the promise to come. It shares the same root word BEKHOR, which means first-born. And the word YOBIKKURIM in Hebrew is the festival of harvest where first fruit offering was taken.

    TITHE

    1. DEKATE: Which means tithe or ten percent.

    2. MAASAR: It means the tenth part of it.

    3. CHEREM: Meaning the accursed thing and also spoils to the deity. It also means something devoted to God for destruction.

THE FOLLOWING SCRIPTURES SHOW THAT FIRST FRUIT AND TITHE ARE DIFFERENT BECAUSE THEY ARE WRITTEN IN THE SAME VERSE

2 Chronicles 31:5: And as soon as the commandment came abroad, the children of Israel brought in abundance the firstfruits of corn, wine, and oil, and honey, and of all the increase of the field; and the tithe of all things brought they in abundantly.

Nehemiah 10:35-39: And to bring the firstfruits of our ground, and the firstfruits of all fruit of all the trees, year by year, unto the house of the Lord. Also the firstborn of our sons, and of our cattle, as it is written in the law, and the firstlings of our herds and of our flocks, to bring to the house of our God, unto the priests that minister in the house of our God. And that we should bring the firstfruits of our dough, and our offerings, and the fruit of all manner of trees, of wine and of oil, unto the priest, to the chambers of the house of our God; and the tithes of our ground unto the Levites, that the same Levites might have the tithes in all the cities of our tillage. And the priest, the son of Aaron shall be with the Levites, when the Levites take the tithes; and the Levites shall bring up the tithe of the tithes unto the house of our God, to the chambers, into the treasure house. For the children of Israel and the children of Levi shall bring the offering of the corn, of the new wine, and the oil, unto the chambers where are the vessels of the sanctuary, and the priest that minister, and the porters, and the singers; and ye will not forsake the house the house of our God.

    FIRST FRUIT

    Deuteronomy 26:1-19

    1. God established the first fruit for people to show gratitude to Him. Deuteronomy 26:1-3: And it shall be, when thou art come in unto the land which the lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance, and possessest it, and dwellest therein; that thou shalt take of the first of all the fruit of the earth, which thou shalt bring of thy land that the Lord thy God giveth thee, and shalt put it in a basket, and shalt go unto the place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name there. And thou shalt go unto the priest that shall be in those days, and say unto him, I profess this day unto the Lord thy God, that I am come unto the country which the Lord sware unto our fathers for to give us.

    2. God established the first fruit for people to remember where God lifted them from. Deuteronomy 8:18: Thou shalt remember the Lord thy God for it is He that giveth thee the power to get wealth that He may establish His covenant which He swear unto your father as it is this day. In Hebrew the word ‘remember’ is the same word first fruit. Deuteronomy 26:4-6: And the priest shall take the basket out of thine hand, and set it down before the altar of the Lord thy God. And thou shalt speak and say before the Lord thy God, a Syrian ready to perish
