Chapter 1
NEVER TRUST TOO MUCH
The Queen family was one of the most respected neighborhoods. He was originally from America, a country he loved, but Mr Gek Queen, the head of the family, was fascinated by Italy in one of his many trips and settled with his family. The Queen, however, felt America's nostalgia, and so decided to go back at least twice a year. They spent three weeks, turning to Los Angeles, their hometown.
Mr. Gek, despite his age, was still in great shape. Tall, dry and slightly peeled, it had an air that immediately inspired confidence. Very famous because of his many films shot in Hollywood, and for this he was much loved, he had to forsake his career for a trivial accident at work. He broke his back during a shooting, and then decided to close with that job, though he later recovered completely.
Established in Sicily, for exactitude in Agrigento, famous in the world for its temples valley, he found everything he needed. Sun, sea and green at will. Here you opened a large building material factory, which after a few months did very well. In addition, Mr. Queen in this small town had known Pablo Fiesta, also originally from Los Angeles. He was an accountant with whom Mr. Gek caught up with a strong friendship and became his most trusted employee.
Pablo was a few years younger than Mr Gek, completely bald, with black mustache to the French and a belly that was constantly leaking out of his black suit. He was certainly not a good guy, but Mr. Gek was not in the dark.
Pablo decided to take advantage of the situation a good day. He had free access to Mr. Gek's safe, as he was himself at the end of the month distributing salaries to the workers. Tired of scratching him, Pablo decided to steal it. The safe included the salary for sixty workers, more naturally a few extra. He waited a few days, and on Sunday night he went, not seen by anyone, to the factory. There was no need to force the lock, as he knew the combination perfectly. When she opened it, her eyes brightened, so full of cash. Pablo had come to Italy to look for luck, and what he had found, and much more than he expected. He took the money away, before being seen by some possible witnesses. Then he set out to travel to Catania Airport, take the first flight and return to his beloved Los Angeles, thinking he had made it clear. The next day, payday, factory workers waited in vain their salary. Mr. Gek, who went to the factory late in the afternoon, found that crowd wondered what had happened. After a brief explanation from Mark, his most wary worker, and not knowing where Pablo was over, decided to pay the workers himself. But when he opened the safe he found it completely empty, unable to believe in his eyes. If the workers had not been paid for who had taken the money? Mr Gek was desperate. Very embarrassed, he told them that the money had been stolen and that the police had been warned of the incident. When the latter arrived, he gave a quick look at the site of the theft, and it was hypothesis that anyone who had stolen money from the safe knew the combination. Only two types of fingerprints were found: Mr Queen and Pablo. Mr. Gek returned home destroyed. He had a modest villa, surrounded by others as beautiful as his. It was a quiet neighborhood without traffic jams. His wife, Mary Sunders, was the typical American woman. A nice middle-aged lady who was noticed for her gold-colored curls. He had sky blue eyes with which he had fallen in love with Mr. Gek. As soon as she knew of the bad news she tried to console her husband, who was standing on the sofa of the living room to shout over the incident. - Who could have been Gek?
She asked, standing in front of him.
- I know who it was! Just the person I trusted most!
Exclaimed Mr. Gek, full of anger as his wife had never seen him.
-But who are you talking about?
She asked naively.
- Di Pablo, who else!
Mr. Gek looked down at her.
-It was him? Are you sure?
Mary is at this point, incredulous, sitting on the couch next to him.
- Unfortunately, you can not find it!
- Well, at this hour it will be far away!
She remarked.
That night at dinner time came back to John. It was their only son, a little pretentious boy, who day by day resembled his father as a young man. Little more than twenty years old, with her hazel eyes taken by her father, red hair and a good-looking face, she never got in trouble.
He had just been informed of the incident;
- Dad, I'm sorry, if I can do something ...
- There's nothing you can do, unless you give me a hand at the factory!
You know very well that I hate that job, and then I told you it was better not to trust that guy, I just realized he was not so honest!
- It's late to think about it, but I learned the lesson!
Mr. Gek reluctantly concluded.
In the coming days he had become increasingly nervous, people were kidding him for having taken off his pussy from under his nose. Anyone who met him had to say his own;
- How is Miss Queen? Has he filled the safe that I later look at? Ahahahah
laughed as soon as he saw him on the street.
Go to the devil!
Replied Mr. Gek.
He could no longer, had become an unsustainable situation, had to look for ways to recover. He could not fail right now.
Slowly, day after day, he set something aside, and within a few weeks he managed to pay all the debts.
Things seemed to get better, even though Pablo's frustration had made it clearer. The police continued to search, but without results, Pablo did not find it.
Mr. Gek decided that it was better to forget that bad story.
Work at the factory went on well, and after the last events John worked there, alongside his father. The latter asked him every day to take his place as director, but John did not hear it.
Mr. Gek decided that he needed to take a few days off, and he thought he would do a good job. He wanted to go back to Los Angeles, to see old friends and spend some days there, in holy peace with his family.
