CHAPTER 1
––––––––
On the drive over to the new house Lisa was behind the wheel while her wife Sara cuddled baby Amanda close against her big pregnant belly. Sara was chattering endlessly about her plans for decorating the living room. Lisa wasn't really listening, and as soon as Sara was quiet for a moment Lisa jumped at the chance to change the subject.
So, what was going on with work today? Any crazy magic stuff?
Lisa kept her focus on the road, but out of the corner of her eye she could see Sara giving her a funny look.
You're asking me about my witchcraft? You never ask me about any of that.
I'm asking now. Tell me what you were up to today.
Sara shrugged.
Well, I kind of screwed up and turned a girl into a boob monster.
Lisa almost drove them off the road.
"Wait, what? A boob monster?"
I gave her three boobs. See, she was this chick with tiny boobs, and she came to me because she wanted more. Well, I guess you could say I did my job a bit too well. I cast a boobie growth spell on her and her boobs did get a lot bigger, but then she grew a third one.
Jesus. Where did the extra one grow?
"Right between the other two. She's got three big ol' boobs, in a line across her chest. You know, like the Total Recall girl. I refunded her money and gave her an antidote. She should be back to normal in a few days, so basically she's gonna get a free boob job out of this. But she’s still really pissed at me. I just hope she doesn’t sue me."
How could she sue you? What lawyer would take a case like that? ‘That witch made me grow an extra tit! It's not there anymore, but it used to be there, I swear!’
Yeah,
Sara said, I guess that I'm probably safe. But I always worry about getting sued. There’s not exactly regular liability insurance available for a career like this, you know.
She frowned for a moment while she played with the baby, but then she broke into a grin.
To be honest I guess I've just been so excited about the house, it makes it kind of hard to focus on my spells. I was thinking, maybe for the couch in the den...
Lisa just stared ahead at the road, knowing that every intersection they passed was bringing them closer and closer to their new life.
––––––––
Lisa carried Amanda from room to room, the baby's happy gurgling echoing off the uncarpeted floors and clean white walls. They met Sara in the empty place that they were already calling the dining room. Sara was walking with a waddle, her hand braced against her lower back to support the weight of her round belly.
So,
Sara said. This is it. Home.
Yeah, I guess so.
Lisa looked down at Amanda, avoiding Sara’s gaze. Sara waddled over to stand with them.
Something wrong, sweetie? You’re not exactly turning cartwheels here.
Lisa continued to look down at Amanda. The baby was heavy in her arms.
No. I’m fine. It’s just... big. Buying a house is a really big deal, you know.
We’ll be fine.
Sara said. She gave Lisa a kiss. Don’t be scared. We’ll be fine.
I know. I’m just... it’s big.
Sara looked at her closely. Then her sweet, worried expression shifted, becoming wry and penetrating.
This isn’t just about the house, is it? You’re having another one of your freak outs about being a lesbo.
One of my...?
Lisa tried to look confused, like she had no idea what Sara was talking about.
Yeah,
Sara said. You’re having one of those things, where it suddenly hits you that you’re absolutely, officially gay now, that you’re married to a girl and we’re having babies together and buying a house.
No, I’m not. I got over all of that stuff a long time ago.
"Right. So, you wouldn’t flinch, even a little, if I called you my... wife."
Sara said it like a dirty word, like she was calling Lisa her bitch. And it kind of felt like she was too. Lisa felt herself blushing.
Come on,
Lisa said. Knock it off.
Nuh-uh.
Sara giggled, moving closer, pushing Lisa back a little bit with her big belly. You’re my wife! You’re married to me! We’re having babies! And buying a house!
Lisa felt a mix of panic and hot, blushing excitement, a state that Sara was uncommonly adept at producing within her.
OK, OK,
Lisa said. "Yeah, I admit it. This is weird for me. But you’ve got to understand, I grew up thinking I was straight, dating boys. Even after all this time, it’s still kind of hard for me to get used to feeling this way. I just never planned on falling in love with another girl, you know?"
Lisa put her hand on Sara's belly.
I’m sorry,
she said. It’s so lame for me to still get freaked out about it. I mean, I’m obviously not going anywhere. I want to be with you.
I know,
Sara said. She gave Lisa another little kiss. But to be honest, I kinda hope you never get completely used to this. I hope you’re always just a little freaked out about it.
Lisa looked at her incredulously.
Huh? Why? How could that possibly be a good thing?
Because a dash of neurotic self-loathing makes life more interesting. Besides, I think it's kind of hot. All those years when we were growing up, I was in love with you and you were the straight girl I could never get. And you used to love teasing me. You liked to play your twisted, straight girl mind games with me, making me horny for you and watching me sweat.
I never teased you!
Lisa felt genuinely indignant. I always felt bad for you! I just wanted to be your friend, and I didn’t wanna hurt your feelings.
Yeah, right. Always finding some excuse to run around in front of me in your little bra and panties, or less. Telling me all of the gooey, chewy details about your love life, about all this hetero sex you were having while I was pining for you. You knew you were driving me crazy, and you dug being unattainable.
Lisa was properly blushing now. It was true, a part of her had enjoyed knowing how much Sara wanted her. Whenever some guy dumped Lisa or she felt fat, it had been a wonderful ego boost to flash a little skin and watch Sara get swoony. It was one of life’s pleasures that she’d never examined too closely, but she could see now how her little game must have been a lot less fun for Sara.
Now Sara’s expression was triumphant, and just a little evil.
I used to have all these fantasies about seducing you,
Sara said, "making you fall in love with me and turning you queer. And I actually did it. You’re not just my wife, Lisa. You’re my prize. You’re a lifetime’s hard work, rewarded. You’re a victory for frustrated lesbos everywhere."
Lisa was trembling. She always did, when Sara got like this. Sara always knew just what spots to hit to make it sting just right.
We live together.
Sara was right in Lisa face, now. We share everything.
She gave Lisa a warm, lingering kiss. And you love me, just as much as I’ve always loved you. You're mine, forever.
Lisa’s eyes were wide and then Sara’s tongue was deep inside of her mouth, warm and probing and irresistible. Lisa saw stars. Literal stars.
