You write books. You publish them too, either as a self-publishing author, or via traditional publishing. How you publish your books doesn't matter.

What matters is that sooner or later you'll make the acquaintance of blurbs.

A blurb is a description of your book.

It's the back cover copy of a print book, and the text you add into the book description field when you self-publish a book at the online book retailers.

Initially you may look on blurbs as a nuisance — a distraction. How can you describe your entire book in a few paragraphs? You wrote your book, and people should just read it.
