      Chapter One

      Ryn couldn’t handle all the love in the house. It was making his skin prickle and his feet itch. He needed fresh air. He tossed another pair of socks into the bag he was holding.

      Mother is going to be pissed when she finds out. She’s all excited about this Christmas thing the other females keep talking about, and if you leave you’ll miss it. She won’t be happy.

      Ryn shook his head at his brother, wound up and pegged Shn with a pair of balled up socks. You’re a little shit, you know that? I know Mother will be upset, but she has two new daughters to swoon over. She’ll be fine.

      Shn picked up the socks from the floor where they landed after bouncing off his chest. He threw them at Ryn. I might be smaller than you, but I’m still older. Prick. I can’t believe you’re going to leave me here. The only one not getting laid.

      Ryn barked out a laugh. I’m sure you can handle yourself, bro. He added a wink and tossed his bag over his shoulder. I’m hitting the outpost for a few things, then staying tonight in my pod before leaving in the morning.

      Shn followed Ryn out the door, into the hall, and down the stairs—where they ran right into their mother, the queen.

      Boys! How lucky I caught you. We’re compiling a list of supplies we need from the outpost and the Space Station. Can one of you go to the outpost today? I’ll get Tylr to take care of the rest.

      Ryn and Shn looked between each other and their mother. She hadn’t changed even a little bit since
