These short prayers have been compiled from the Qur'an and the example of the Prophet Muhammad, and illustrate in a vivid and concrete manner the Islamic principle that encourages believers to cultivate consciousness of God in all they do throughout the day.

    Fatima D'Oyen was born in New York in 1960 and embraced Islam in 1979.

    Abdur Raheem Kidwai is Professor of English at the Aligarh Muslim University in India.
