      December 2011, a ginger-haired performer hit rock bottom.  Distanced from his family at a young age in an effort to make it in the music industry, this ambitious young musician put it all on the line.  He used his God-given talent for small wages and beer and thankfully so with a lack of alternative income and ability to put food in his belly. Then on a night of celebration, with all earnings gone on beers and buddies, in what he thought would be the end, was only the beginning.  Known as no other than Ed Sheeran, he worked hard for his privileged position, kept in mind where he came from, and clearly knows where he is going—to the top of the music industry.  [i]

      Born to John Sheeran and Imogen Lock February 17th, 1991 in Halifax, England was Edward Christopher Sheeran.  Sheeran’s father, an art curator, and mother, a jewelry designer, ran a tight ship.  They raised their boy in a home that fostered creativity with a lack of TV or similar devices; only books, his parent’s attention, siblings, friends, and a guitar were there for entertainment.  ¹

      Ed expressed an interest in music at a very young age.  Growing up in Framlingham, Suffolk, Ed was from a Roman Catholic background.  At four years of age, he joined a church choir.  Then later on, he became a member of the National Youth Theatre.  [ii]

      His father was highly supportive of Ed’s love for music.  At the age of 9, his father bought him, The Mathers LP, by Eminem on the claim that his dad believed the artist’s CD had great lyrics.  The same artist became a source of inspiration for young Ed Sheeran.¹
