    Kindred Spirits - Jessica Brinkley

    Prologue

Hi Abigail Grace Cooper, it's been awhile since we last talked. I really missed you over the summer. I have something to confess to you. It's something I've been wanting to tell you for the longest time but I never had the courage to say it, I love you.

Well that was lame, that's not how you admit to the girl of your dreams that you're in love with her! I give out a huge sigh, it's so hard to admit feelings especially when you know you're going to be rejected.

I'm Samson Victor Johnson and I'm about to get rejected. Ok cool, acceptance is the key to victory right? I look at the mirror and see myself: Brown eyes and brown hair but I'm also not that tall, that fit or anything that girls ideally like. I'm overweight and I get bullied a lot for being like that. My momma says that I should love myself at all cost because this is God's gift to me and I do and I try to. Anyways, I still feel a little bit shy and terrified around girls especially Abi.

Ohhhh Abigail. Abigail's the editor-in-chief of our school's newspaper. I joined the journ-nerds, as we call it, cause it's the only place where we can be ourselves and truly happy. I didn't have a club before and would usually go home after dismissal, no friends to hangout with. One day the principal called me, thought I was in trouble, he suggested I attend the Journalism Club. I had really high grades in English because I love literature. I doubted the idea at first but in a way it was a blessing in disguise from God. I grabbed the opportunity of joining the Journalism Club. I was scared at first, shy and doubtful about it but then I met Abi, she became my first friend. After sometime all the journ-nerds became my friends. It was a miracle and I became so happy. There's just something about Abi that's different in a good way. She loves books and reading, she loves learning and she goes to the same church that I go to. Who wouldn't fall for that? I fell in love with her but I'm too shy to tell her, I don't want to lose her as a friend but I don't want her falling for anybody else either.

Chapter 1: First day of Classes

Adam promised to pick me up that morning, he's the totally hot basketball player cousin that everybody adores in our High School. He got a new convertible from his parents.

Man, I'm gonna get so many girls with this car. Don't you think? Adam, compared to me, was of course better and yeah... better. I give him a nod of acknowledgment.

Why so glum, chum? Something bothering you? It's senior year the chances of me and Abi going to the same university for college are slim, I just want to tell her
