Going Home
If only I had just followed my instincts and stayed in the room waiting for my parents to collect me, then everything would have been alright, and I wouldn't be here telling you this story. They insisted I stayed here because apparently I’m not ‘fully recovered’ yet. I suppose they are only trying to make sure I do what’s for the best, and they are only saying what the Doctors have said to them . . . and what do they know – Doctors?
You’re as good as you feel,
I say, that’s always been my mantra. However, the odd thing was, I know I did stay in that room – the waiting room at the old hostel where I was supposed to be recovering. You see, something happened, and it changed . . . well . . . everything really. What actually occured is very hard to describe; I was just waiting for mum and dad to come and collect me to take me home. I certainly did not see this coming, and I doubt if you will either.

I sat alone in the dark, dingy hostel waiting room. There was a light coming from somewhere in the adjacent corridor but that was the only light. Lately, while I have been recovering I’ve found I have preferred the dark. I think it’s something to do with my eyes, maybe it’s because of so many bright lights shining my way recently? At least, that’s what Miss Henson, the auxiliary nurse reckoned.
