Author

Gerald Lopez

Gerald was called to write at various times in his life. When he was young, the writing consisted of plays and short stories. Then he explored the fine arts and literature, earning a bachelor’s degree in the latter while minoring in art history. In his studies he was fascinated by and enjoyed analyzing characters, their personalities and motivations. To him it’s always been the characters who make a story special. Once again writing has taken hold of him. In the past it was just an amusement, but now—for Gerald—writing is a passion to live, eat, and breathe.

    Chapter 1

ANDREW, I’M WITH Allen, Vincent said.

Anger filled Andrew for a moment. Clearly Vincent was with Allen since his legs were on Allen’s shoulders and he was about to be screwed. Andrew calmed himself, determined not to be foiled in his attempt to win Vincent… even by Vincent. He’d engage in this game until things got back to normal—but he’d play to win. A plan entered Andrew’s mind and he grinned as he looked at Vincent.

Oh, did you think I came here to see you? Andrew said.

Didn’t you, Father Andrew? Vincent said.

"It’s not Father anymore, Andrew said, as he removed his shirt. That’s why my Roman collar is on your night table. It’s just Mr. Andrew Madera now. And I’m here for Allen." He looked at Allen who smiled at him and winked. The wink let him know that Allen was definitely on his side. That was good because things were about to heat up.

While Vincent and Allen watched, Andrew stripped out of the rest of his clothes until he was naked before them. Then Andrew went to Allen and kissed him on the lips.

I need a shower after that flight, Andrew said.

Hang on, Vincent said. How did you even know we were here?

I’ll show you to the bathroom then wash your back, Allen said, getting up from the bed. He put an arm around Andrew, grabbed Andrew’s ass, then walked him toward the French doors in the back of the room. There’s a terrific outdoor shower we can try out.

    Great, Andrew said.

Once you’re no longer in shock, Vince, come partake of the fun, Allen said. "By the way, I had left plane tickets for Andrew so that he could come join us.

SO, WHAT ELSE did Andy say? Christian said to Tate when they took a break from watching their cartoon and got something to drink in the kitchen.

"Andrew didn’t have much to say, Tate said as he grabbed a Cherry Coke for himself and a regular Coke for Christian. His plane had just landed and he was still in the airport. Oh, he did mention that the locals call the island Chiquita."

Chiquita? Christian said. As in banana.

    Banana? Tate said.

Yeah, you know, Chiquita Banana, Christian said.

Apparently they call it Chiquita because it’s the smaller of two neighboring islands.

"Tate, did you e-mail everybody to let them know Andrew got there safely?"

Y’up, Tate said. And, Christian, you were right. This cartoon is a hoot. Although, it probably is just a teeny bit too ‘gay’ for some folks.

Oh, please, Christian said. There’s no fucking or sucking going on, so it can’t be gay.

If only your boyfriend could hear you now, Tate said. He’d have himself a case of the vapors he’d be in such a state. He opened Christian’s soda for him. Let’s go back and watch the show, Champ.

"THIS IS A NICE shower," Andrew said while he rinsed off under the rain shower head.

I just want to say, well played, Andrew, Allen said, then wrapped his arms around Andrew’s waist from behind and kissed his neck. We’d better keep the show going for a while. At least until our audience of one gets the hint and wakes up to reality.

Thanks for the plane tickets, Andrew said, then turned and kissed Allen on the lips.

The two were kissing when Vincent appeared.

Couldn’t you guys at least wait for me, Vincent said.

Nope, we couldn’t, Allen said. But, now that you’re here there are two cocks that could use your attention.

Without saying a word, Vincent got down and began sucking on both cocks. First alternating between them, then taking both into his mouth at one time. Andrew stayed busy kissing Allen, who he thought was a surprisingly good kisser. Nobody spoke or questioned what was happening. Things had definitely changed in Andrew’s life but he decided to turn off his brain for a while and just go with the flow. The three of them were kissing now. Unable to resist, Andrew pulled Vincent’s smooth, slick body to him. After a few seconds he kissed Vincent, held him awhile, then kissed his back and ass. Once Andrew was close enough he positioned himself between Vincent and Allen then licked and sucked on their cocks and balls.

The trio dried off then made their way back to the bedroom and the bed. Andrew was on top of Vincent kissing him passionately while Allen kissed Andrew’s ass. Then Allen was on top of Andrew who’d turned and was now on his back. He lifted Andrew’s legs onto his shoulders.

I’m gonna fuck you, Andrew, Allen said, testing a theory he had about Vincent.

Do it, Andrew said, pretty sure of what Allen was up to.

Allen was about to do just that when Vincent shouted. No! He’s mine!

    Am I? Andrew said.

Is he? Allen said, thinking that he was glad his plan had worked and that Vincent was starting to wake up at least a little.

    Yes, Vincent said.

Okay, Allen said. Should we stop what we’re doing then?

Umm, Vincent said. "Yes, stop what you’re doing. He saw Allen lie down and turn on his side. But, well… I guess it’s alright to play around a little bit. Maybe oral, but that’s it."

Are you okay with that, Andrew? Allen said.

I can live with that, Andrew said and smiled.

The three turned their bodies and positioned themselves so that Vincent could suck Andrew’s cock, Andrew could do Allen and Allen could suck on Vincent’s cock. After a while they switched things around. Once they came, they lay in bed next to one another and fell asleep.

Bright sunlight coming in through the glass panels in the French doors woke Andrew. He opened his eyes and looked down at Vincent who had slept nestled in both his and Allen’s arms. Allen, who’d woken up, looked at Andrew. He smiled, winked, and nodded toward the French doors. Slowly Allen got out of bed, followed by Andrew. When they were outside on the patio, Andrew spoke in a low voice.

    Vince looks like an angel.

I think he probably felt like he was in Heaven sleeping between the two of us, Allen said. This villa is clothing optional. After I use the bathroom, we can walk and talk.

When Allen had gone back inside, Andrew walked to the edge of the patio and looked at the view. He’d arrived on the island at night so he hadn’t seen much. Now he could look out past lush vegetation, banana trees, and colorful, flowering plants toward a small town on the edge of clear blue water. He was still admiring the view when he felt Allen’s arms around him and his hot breath on the side of his neck.

How are you this morning? Allen said.

Andrew turned around, kissed Allen on the lips, and slipped in his tongue. After a few moments he spoke.

    I’m feeling good, Allen.

You’re very at ease with yourself, aren’t you? Allen said.

I am now, Andrew said. There’s no more confusion and I feel free. However, I’ll feel even freer after I use the bathroom.

When Andrew returned, Allen was still in the same spot. Allen held his hand out to Andrew who took it in his. They then walked toward a terra-cotta tiled staircase.

This place is beautiful, Andrew said.

It’s all stone and tile, besides the wood beams in all the rooms—like ours has, Allen said.

They were down by the pool now which was surrounded by a sizeable, stone wall featuring terraced gardens. There were a dozen wooden lounge chairs situated along the perimeter of the large, rectangular pool. On an outdoor table were a stack of towels. Allen took two and handed one to Andrew.

They like us to keep a towel between our bare bodies and the furniture, Allen said.

Andrew spread his towel out on one of the chairs before sitting. Allen did the same before he sat in the chair next to Andrew.

That’s the most relaxed I’ve seen Vince in several days, Allen said while turning to face Andrew. He felt completely safe and loved sleeping between us.

He said I was his last night, Andrew said.

Isn’t that what you’d hoped would happen?

Yes, but by the end of things last night, I’m not sure I thought anything at all. It was nice.

What happened doesn’t shake up your priestly sensibilities?

I’m not a priest anymore, Andrew said. And I’ve learned a lot lately, Allen.

    Tell me more, Allen said.

    Chapter 2

WHERE SHOULD I begin? Andrew said. I’ve learned more about friendship and love. But sometimes things aren’t so easy to quantify and lines get blurred slightly.

There are even times when friends become friends with benefits, Allen said then winked. And that’s not always such a bad thing.

Nope, Andrew said. Although, maybe it’s not the best thing in the world for an ex priest to agree with your statement. But life isn’t always so… how should I say it? Not so black and white. I needed what I found back at Stratham and Vince needed what happened last night. It wasn’t about sex, though.

No, Allen said, "well, not just about that. And it wasn’t salacious.’

I agree, Andrew said. In a way it felt natural and certainly wasn’t unpleasant. He lay back in the recliner and put his hands under his head. I’m tired of thinking so much about everything that I end up frustrated. For now I’m going to heed the advice of my former boss and just ‘be’. What is this place, anyway?"

Allen laid back in his recliner then turned on his side to speak to Andrew. We are currently relaxing in Paradise Villa, an all male vacation destination. Located high in the mountains with plenty of privacy and a view of the water.

It was hard to make out much when I took the taxi in from the dock last night, Andrew said.

A naked, bald man headed their way holding a towel in his hand. His pale body was sunburnt in spots, but he was smiling.

Good morning, the man said to Andrew and Allen. Looks like another beautiful island day. I’m Montgomery Makepeace.

Nice to meet you, Montgomery, I’m Andrew.

The two shook hands as Montgomery scanned Andrew’s body. You probably don’t have to worry about burning as much as a pale Northerner like me has to.

You’d be surprised, Andrew said. Mostly I tan, but my shoulders have a tendency to burn in the sun.

Better burning your shoulders than places lower down on your body, Montgomery said, then lifted his balls with his hands to show how red they were."

That’s some sunburn there. I’m Allen. I know people put a sock on their cock to keep it from burning, maybe there’s something similar you can do to protect your balls. Or if you get a big enough sock it could cover cock and balls.

There’s an idea to remember for next time, Montgomery said. The staff has put out a great breakfast on the upper terrace.

Thanks, Allen said. We’ll check it out.

If I can force myself to leave the comfort of this lounge chair, Andrew said.

I’m gonna hit the pool, Montgomery said. I’ve no doubt we’ll run into each other again. He put his towel on a lounge chair then jumped into the pool.

Allen gave Andrew a hand up and the two walked toward the tiled staircase by the end of the pool.

I love the terra cotta tiles used everywhere, Andrew said.

What do you think of the stone accented walls and the stucco, Allen said.

It all works well together, Andrew said. The teak deck around the pool is nice too. And I’ve always liked wood plantation shutters like those on all the windows. Have you and Vince come here before?

No, Allen said, then put his arm around Andrew as they walked up the wide staircase. It’s kind of nice seeing all of this together—the three of us.

In the altogether, Andrew said then chuckled. Bad joke, but I haven’t eaten yet.

Maybe it’s a good thing I didn’t hear that joke on a full stomach, Allen said. "And I guess until sleeping beauty wakes up it’s not three of us.

They both chuckled as they stepped onto the third floor terrace and headed to the outdoor table.

Look at that main room, Andrew said, peering into a common room through open French doors. Stone columns, high ceiling with wood beams—incredible.

‘Yeah, Allen said, but the croissants and jam are calling my name." He pulled Andrew toward the table shaded by a striped, cloth awning going along the back of the upper story of the house.

They loaded their plates with croissants and jam as well as sliced mango and grapes then walked around for a place to sit.

Now that looks like a comfortable spot, Allen said.

In a corner of the patio, under vine-covered, wood beams was a long, wide swing. It was more along the size of a bed and large enough for Allen and Andrew to lie down side by side on it.

The former owners were right to name this place Paradise Villa, Allen said.

I can’t get over all the flowers, orchids, trees, greenery—you name it, Andrew said. This place is like an upscale bed and breakfast, isn’t it?

That’s exactly what it is, Allen said, then fed Andrew a piece of mango. "I wish I could bring Morgan here, but that’s impossible.

Andrew put his plate on the floor then ran his hand through Allen’s salt and pepper chest hair. Allen felt Andrew’s chest with his palm. He pulled on Andrew’s nipples and smiled. Andrew responded by kissing Allen on the lips.

You taste like raspberry jam and mango, Andrew said.

Allen scooped some jam from his plate with his finger then spread it on Andrew’s nipple. As he licked it with his tongue and nibbled on Andrew’s nipple, he tugged on it with his teeth. Andrew moaned then he and Allen kissed, slowly at first then more passionately with tongues. While they kissed, Allen let his hand go down Andrew’s body till it had his cock and balls in hand.

I think the other guests, including Vince, are sleeping, Allen said. He put his plate on the floor then turned so his face was even with Andrew’s hard cock. Both men engaged in a sixty-nine session until they’d each cum. As they laid back again and kissed, an attendant suddenly appeared from around the corner, smiled at Andrew and Allen, then picked up their plates and left.

Hi there, Allen said to Andrew.

Hi, Andrew said. You’re planning to stay in Stratham when you go back, aren’t you?

Yeah, Allen said. Morgan needs me… and I want to be with him.

That’s nice, Andrew said. Where does he think you went?

Oh, he knows I’m here, Allen said. And has some idea of what I’m doing.

Does he mind you doing things with other men?

No, or this wouldn’t have happened—any of it.

If he’d said no then you wouldn’t have even come here with Vince, Andrew said.

Exactly, Allen said. But, even though I believe in being committed to someone I’m not really one for monogamy. Morgan understands that and it’s not a problem for him.

They kissed again and Allen’s beard tickled Andrew’s face.

Your beard feels good against my body, Andrew said.

You didn’t think it would, Allen said.

I prefer a smooth body and face.

Like Vince has, Allen said. Morgan liked my beard, hairy chest, and legs.

You two make a handsome couple.

There aren’t words to describe how beautiful Morgan is, Allen said.

You do have it bad, Andrew said. How often will you be allowed to see Morgan?

Every day if I want, Allen said. I’ve volunteered my massage services for the patients and the staff. I hope to also do massages at Fernando’s salon in the mornings and some afternoons. I’m going to rent the back space from him. Then my evenings will be spent at St. Dymphna’s. Late evenings will always be set aside for Morgan, so I can be there to help him sleep.

That’s awesome, Andrew said. You are exactly what Morgan needs in his life. He’s done some terrible things and there’s no excuse for what he did. But he knows that and I believe he’s truly sorry. And I think he’s ready for something good and wonderful in his life—that’s you, my friend.

Morgan has suffered a great deal too and I hope I can bring him some happiness and joy, Allen said.

They were kissing again when a familiar voice spoke.

Did you two opt for protein for breakfast? Vincent said as he stood naked in front of the swing.

Yeah, Andrew said, But I didn’t get my fill, get over here, babe.

When Vincent got close, Andrew put his arms around his hips then sucked on his cock until he came. Allen was content to sit back and watch.

What a way to start the day, huh? Allen said.

Vincent kissed him then Andrew and spoke. How do you like the place, Andrew?

    I love it, Andrew said.

Good, Vincent said. Because I have a surprise to share.

    Chapter 3

    WHAT? ANDREW SAID.

Consider this place an early forty-ninth birthday present, Andrew, Vincent said.

What’re you talking about, Vince? Andrew said.

Did you think about what you were going to do when you left the priesthood? Vincent said.

I did briefly but I had other things and people on my mind, Andrew said. What do you mean this is my birthday present?

Well, I found this place for sale online and bought it, Vincent said, then I asked Allen to come with me to sign the final paperwork, which we did with the island lawyer yesterday before coming up to the villa. It’s all paid off and been put in your name, Andrew.

    Why? Andrew said.

It just seemed like the thing to do, Vincent said.

Do you come with the place? Andrew said. I won’t accept it otherwise.

Vincent was silent so Allen spoke.

It’s his dowry so to speak, Allen said and smiled. Actually, he told me he thought it’d make a great wedding gift to you, Andrew. He said the place was just your style because of all the stone and tile.

He knows me well, Andrew said then kissed Allen on the lips before turning to Vincent. Had you told me all that I would’ve kissed you, silly boy. He tickled Vincent’s sides causing him to giggle. After a moment he stood and got serious. I love you with all my heart Vincent Farragate. You’re mine, you know… and I’m yours. He got down on one knee. Let’s seal the deal, babe. Marry me.

I want to, Vincent said, then looked nervous. I love you, Andrew, but I’m scared.

Not of me or us, I hope, Andrew said.

No, Vincent said. It’s what’s inside me that I’m afraid to look at.

    What’s that mean? Allen said.

I don’t even know, Vincent said. It feels like something’s been preying on my mind and I’m afraid to see what it is. I don’t want to discover I’m a freak or crazy like my grandpa was.

Oh, Vince, Andrew said, then held Vincent. You don’t have it in you to be like him.

How can I be sure? Vincent said.

I’m sure, Andrew said. Believe in my belief in you for starters. He kissed Vincent on the lips and felt Vincent hug him tightly.

Andrew, I want to marry you, Vincent said. And my answer is definitely yes I’ll marry you—if you were really serious asking the question. But can we wait until I get my head on straight again?

Sure, Andrew said. This seems like the perfect place for finding oneself. But whatever will we do with Allen? He smiled.

Please, Vincent said. As if I hadn’t already heard about Allen and Morgan. He looked at Allen and smiled. Do you love him, Allen?

Yeah, Allen said. He’s the real deal. Morgan and I are each other’s number ones. I love him. But it doesn’t mean I’ll stop loving you or Andrew. And I will accept your offer from yesterday—of a massage position here—when I’m on vacation from Stratham.

Could you stand to leave Morgan for that long? Andrew said.

He’s already insisted that I spend my winter’s here so I can stay tan for him, Allen said. Morgan likes my tan. I love his pale, smooth skin and his eyes… and his cute toes. God, I’m a sap. I’m missing him already.

Sounds like two more in our small group will be getting hitched, Andrew said.

The ring’s back in Stratham waiting to be put on Morgan’s finger, Allen said.

Holy moly, Vincent said. You’re being completely serious.

    Y’up, Allen said.

But you’ve only seen him a couple times at most, Andrew said.

What can I say? Allen said. I’m not as slow as you two. I knew after my first session with Morgan that he was the one. So why wait?

Makes sense to me, Andrew said.

Me too… I think, Vincent said. I’m hungry, can I trust you two to keep your hands off each other while I’m gone?

I can’t make any promises, Andrew said.

It probably is too much to ask, Allen said. You’d better hurry back.

Allen and Andrew laughed, Vincent shrugged them off then headed to the table to get breakfast.

Vince does have a cute ass, Allen said. Small but very cute. He accepted your proposal, Andrew, congrats on that and your birthday present.

    Thank you, Andrew said.

When Vincent had finished eating, he and Andrew headed back to their room to dress. Allen decided to lay out by the pool.

This is a nice room, Andrew said as he looked up at the wood beams on the ceiling. Thank you for my birthday present, Vince—I love it.

Do you really? Vincent said while pulling his coral Polo shirt on over his head.

I do. Especially the fact we’ll be living here together you and I. Although, I already feel myself getting lazy.

We’ll have to make sure you exercise, Vincent said then smoothed out Andrew’s blue tank top with his hands.

You know what the best exercise is, don’t you? Andrew said.

    What? Vincent said.

Sex, Andrew said, then hugged Vincent.

Vincent pulled away and smiled weakly. Andrew, this feels right, doesn’t it?

It is right, Andrew said, firmly. You know that too since you arranged for this all to happen. Did you know I was coming?

I accidentally saw the tickets Allen had bought and hoped they were for you. Actually, I sort of knew they had to be for you.

Then why say you were Allen’s when I first arrived.

For a minute when I first saw you I was scared, Vincent said. And I don’t know why. The real me would never be scared of you—not for a second.

The real you knows how much I love you, Andrew said and wrapped his arms around Vincent. I have a feeling you’re gonna need constant, physical reminding of that fact. He kissed the side of Vincent’s neck and heard Vincent moan.

I want you so badly right now it’s not funny, Vincent said. Be strong for both of us, Andrew. We’ve got to meet with the staff before we can think about our own fun. Oops, I forgot, one of us has already had fun this morning. He smiled.

Andrew grinned. It was nothing you haven’t had and I did do you. He chuckled. Be honest, does it bother you that Allen and I messed around?

No. I’m just sorry I missed the fun.

We didn’t have it in us to wake you, Andrew said. You were sleeping so soundly. I’ll have you know it took a lot of self-control on my part not to jump on your sexy body and have my way with you.

I wouldn’t have been sorry if you had.

Andrew kissed him on the lips then put on his flip-flops. Both he and Vincent were in shorts and flip-flops as they walked hand in hand to find the villa manager.

The manager was in the main common space which was a large living room with French doors on both sides that were open to let the breeze pass through. Furnishings were sparse but comfortable-looking and the terra-cotta tiles continued into the space from outside. Andrew looked toward the slim, tan manager. He was a little shorter than Andrew and had neatly kept wavy, brown hair. His smile, when he turned to Andrew and Vincent, was warm and welcoming.

Mr. Madera and Mr. Farragate, the manager said. I am Alberto Rico. He shook Andrew’s hand firmly then Vincent’s.

Andrew and Vince will do, Andrew said. Going by last names sort of ruins the casual atmosphere of the villa. He saw Alberto smile. I certainly hope you know more about running a… um… guest villa than I do.

I’ve been working here for a little over a year, Alberto said, but have lived on the island for my entire life. I’m thirty-five now.

Alberto, Vincent said. Can you give us a tour of the main house? Andrew arrived at night and hasn’t seen much of the villa in daylight. I didn’t get a chance to explore much in person either.

I’d be more than happy to do that, Alberto said. The view of the water and town from here are unmatched on the island. But, we don’t have the beach location like other resorts do.

Does that hurt business? Andrew said.

A little probably, but not much, Alberto said.

Andrew and Vincent followed Alberto as he showed them the terraces before they went to one of the guestrooms on the first floor.

This is the only room we have vacant at present and only until later today, Alberto said as he opened the room door and they all walked inside. Most of the five rooms located inside the main house are very similar. They’re about 500 square feet with private baths. The walls are plaster and there are exposed wood beams on the ceilings.

I love that feature, Andrew said, as he looked around the room. Everything looks spotless too.

Enrique and Pierre handle housekeeping, Alberto said. They’re a couple and live in a small cottage on site which is convenient should a need of any sort arise. We have a chef named Henri Luis who is excellent. He has a small room with private bath below the kitchen. It’s considered part of his wages.

Interesting, Andrew said. Is he a nice chap?

Very much so, Alberto said. He smiled and his golden hazel eyes lit up. People love Henri, he’s very friendly and often entertains the guests in his guise as the contessa Luisa Le Frou. When Henri lived in Paris he had a very popular cabaret act.

Now that’s interesting, Vincent said. I was impressed when I saw that the villa is almost always sold out and rarely has a vacancy.

There are a large number of regular guests, Alberto said. And this weekend is the start of our Rainbow Daze Festival.

Before I ask about Rainbow Daze, Alberto, Andrew said, I have a few other questions. Are all of the guests male and of a certain persuasion?

They are, Alberto said. Gay or bisexual males eighteen years of age and older. The villa specifically caters to a gay or bisexual male clientele. The entire property is clothing optional, however we do ask guests to use towels to sit on when using indoor or outdoor furnishings, except for the beds of course.

If I may be blunt, Alberto, Andrew said. Are you yourself gay or bisexual?

I was raised not to put such limits on myself, Alberto said. My father is a rather interesting man who believes in the beauty of a person, place, or thing. If he finds an object beautiful he purchases it, if a place captures his eye he frequents it, and if it’s a person he desires, then he romances them—be they male, female or anything in between.

Reminds me of a certain priest we knew in Stratham, Vincent said. One Father Felix.

He does sound a lot like him actually, Andrew said, then turned to Alberto. Until just recently I was a Catholic priest.

Oh, my father would enjoy talking to you then, Alberto said as he walked them to the bathroom. He attended seminary for a while… until the incident.

    Chapter 4

    INCIDENT? VINCENT SAID.

Incidents, actually, Alberto said. My father Arturo somehow managed to seduce most of the new candidates at his seminary. When the heads of the seminary asked my father if he was sorry for what he’d done he was unapologetic. His only regret was that he hadn’t been able to seduce all of the seminarians and introduce them to what he specifically called ‘the joys of the flesh’.

Oh my, Father Andrew said. He does sound… interesting. His focus had suddenly turned to the copper-colored, glass tiles on the shower wall, then to the two raised square sinks on the dual vanity. I’m very impressed with everything. What about the inner workings of the villa—plumbing, structure, Internet?

Believe it or not, we have excellent Internet service, Alberto said.

And I had an inspection done of the villa before purchasing it, Vincent said. By the way, Alberto, the villa belongs to Andrew. He’s the man in charge.

Actually, Alberto, I’m quite content to have you run things, Andrew said. You seem to be doing an efficient job so far.

I do try my best, Sir, Alberto said.

Andrew took a moment to look at what Alberto was wearing. He had on a semi-sheer, white, cotton, button-down shirt, matching shorts, and dressy white sandals. It was a professional look which also showed off the man’s tan and fit body.

Is what you’re wearing a uniform of sorts, Alberto? Andrew said.

Yes, Sir, Alberto said. I own several white shirts and shorts and alternate them, but they’re all exactly the same.

I like it, Andrew said. In fact I like how you present yourself in such a professional manner. You’re a good representative for the villa.

Thank you very much, Alberto said. I’m here most of the time. My cottage is just five minutes down the road if even that. I should let you know that I’m a widower and have a seven-year-old son, but I never bring him to work. I’ve been with both men and women but married a woman. She was murdered in town several years ago by an angry ex lover of hers.

I’m sorry to hear that, Andrew said.

So am I, Vincent said. Is the town somewhat dangerous?

No, not really, Alberto said. "There were a few rough elements at the time my wife was killed, but now it’s a nice place. The main source of income here is tourism so the police come down hard on any sort of things that could affect tourists—such as violence or
