    Introduction

What if there was a way to create a healthier lifestyle that you could actually stick with for the long term? Maybe you are getting a bit older and have some concerns about where your habits are leading you. Are your energy levels lagging or are you tired of having to go up a size in clothes every few years?

Public health statistics indicate that many chronic and potentially life-shortening illnesses are the results of less than optimal choices of daily living when it comes to nutrition, exercise, and stress. Consider this sobering data from public health authorities.

-2 out of 3 US adults are either overweight and obese, a major risk factor in developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease and a host of other illnesses according to the National Institutes of Health

-A survey by the American Psychological Association indicates only 27% of adult Americans report feeling they are doing a good job when it comes to their eating and exercise behaviors.

-According to the American Institute of Stress, the annual cost of stress is a whopping $300 billion due to employee turnover, absenteeism, accidents, and healthcare.

Chances are a doctor has suggested a lifestyle change to you at one point or another because of data like this. Yet many doctors are far too busy to provide much coaching on how to put behavioral shifts in motion.

You may have even made a purchase and then found the results less than satisfying. Maybe the exercise plan was too demanding and you hurt yourself or the diet didn’t gibe with who you are. Did you fail or was it that the program wasn’t right for you? How do you go about making a change when life can be so demanding at times?

Yet throwing in the towel completely doesn’t seem like an option either or you wouldn’t be here now.

Even if you have struggled and failed in the past to get on a healthier path, this book will teach you proven strategies for attainable and sustainable change that will enable you to feel greater health, comfort, and self-control.

The ideas and suggestions I will be sharing with you are based upon my 20 plus years as a professional hypnotist and health coach. Every effort has been made to ensure what you will be learning has a sound basis in research and is plausible and practical for you to do.

Unlike a lot of books that tell you to eat this way and move that way, a lot of our focus here is going to be on motivation and the development of new habits that are attainable and sustainable. Over the years countless people have said to me something along the lines of, "I
