About this ebook

Western romance short story.

Luke Callahan is bound and determined that he isn't going to be tricked into a shotgun wedding no matter how tempting Cassie is. His pa and Cassie's were in cahoots to lasso him into marriage so they could combine their ranches. The last thing he wanted in his life was a wife. He liked his freedom and didn't plan on getting married anytime soon.

His plans were thwarted when Cassie's pa found them naked in the pond together and Luke couldn't convince Carl that his daughter tried to seduce him. He was honor bound to make Cassie an honest woman, because if he left it up to his pa and hers, her reputation would be ruined. Not a man to back down to anyone, he vowed that he would get what he wanted before he proposed to Cassie. Marriage would be on his terms or not at all.

    About the Author

    Chapter 1

Luke Callahan knew he was taking a chance stripping off his clothes to bathe in his neighbor’s pond, but he was downright filthy and sweaty after fixing the fence posts that separated his land from Carl Morgan’s ranch.

He waded naked out into the cool, clear water until he was waist deep.  He inhaled a deep breath and held it before diving beneath the surface to get his hair and upper torso soaking wet.  He surfaced and began scrubbing down with the lye soap he always kept in his saddlebags.  A little bit of heaven in this dry Texas heat, he muttered, when he heard a giggle from behind him.

Groaning, he heard a rustle of movement before the splash of water.  It wasn’t more than a couple of seconds before slim, tanned arms slipped around his waist from behind.  Cassie, you get out of here!"

How’d ya know it was me?

No one else would have the gall to come upon a man in his bath and attack him.

    Attack you?

Yes!  Now get outta here before you get caught.

If we get caught, I can say I was saving you from drowning yourself.

She slid her hands up his chest to caress his nipple and fire swept through him.  He gritted his teeth as she pressed against him and he felt her bare breasts press into the middle of his back.  Are you naked?  His heart pounded against his chest.

As naked as you.  Wanna see?

Luke grabbed hold of her hand on his chest when her other slipped lower and lightly caressed him.  Fire, sweet and tempting, made his breath catch in his throat.  Cassie, he grated, "get the heck
