The Pearl Of Great price - Paul Lynch

    Introduction

    Dear Friend,

You know I was saying to myself not too long ago from the writing of this book that I’d take a break from writing. As a writer and novelist, I believed I’d already written a lot. However, while I was at home in my living room I heard a voice whispering in my ear over and over several times saying: The Pearl of Great Price. I knew it was the Lord God who wanted me to do a book on just this title. However, the problem was what exactly should be in the book. God works in mysterious ways in truth. As a child of God and Spirit-filled believer, your work is never complete until your two hands are by your side. When you think of taking a break and some vacation here comes God calling out to you. Do you remember the story of Jonah? Probably you have, however, if you haven’t here’s a breakdown of it. Jonah was a Hebrew prophet of God that was sent to the wicked city of Nineveh to warn the citizens and dwellers that in forty days Nineveh shall be destroyed. Jonah didn’t like the Ninevites because they were wicked and the enemy of Israel so he went to the sea coasts found a ship going to Tarshish or modern-day Spain according to some Bible scholars and he paid his fare went aboard and fell asleep under the cabin of the ship. Minutes later, however, the sailors awoke him and said, Why don’t you call upon your God don’t you see we perish?

At this Jonah knew that it was his disobedience to the Lord God that caused this dangerous storm to have occurred suddenly. The sailors’ cast lots as it was common to do in those days and it fell on Jonah. The sailors questioned Jonah about who he was and where he was from. At hearing Jonah’s declaration that he was a Hebrew prophet who feared the Living God who created the earth, seas and everything that dwelled in them they panicked. The sailors were pagans at first no doubt since at the beginning of the storm they were praying to false gods for help. However, after realizing that something was different about this storm they questioned the stranger on board to see if he knew what it was all about. The sailors decided to row Jonah to land, however, the storm grew worse and worse that Jonah told them he better jump in the middle of the sea. After he jumped the sea waves became as calm as ever. The sailors when they saw this praised the Living God of Heaven and Earth, made vows, and offered up sacrifices for their sins. The story of Jonah isn’t just about a disobedient prophet being swallowed by a giant fish or possibly a whale. No, there’s more to it than that. In this story, sinners repented of their sins and turned to the Living God. It started with the sailors and continued with the Ninevites.

I believe and I’m sure that God is no respecter of people. God has no favorite. God has no special person he loves more than another. I’m convinced Christ Jesus came and died for all humans, however, not every human will enter the kingdom of Heaven because not all are willing to repent of their sins and become born again people who are led by God’s Spirit. Christ Jesus died for the entire world but don’t expect the entire world’s population to be in Heaven.

God has revealed several things to me in a very short time. God is a revealer of things in the past,
