About this ebook

Division 3 has been stuck in a hole. When ChaosBlaze kidnaps Luz’s parents, they demand Luz as ransom. Why they want him doesn’t remain a mystery long, as the file his uncle had given them reveals the truth to Luz’s life. His whole life, he’d been observed as a chemical lab rat, with the hopeful intention that the passive-aggressive techno-geek would become the Blazer’s ultimate weapon to finally win their MetaHuman war. He starts turning numb, no matter the efforts of Blaine and Gael to reassure him. He trains until he’s wiped, as he needs every skill he can get to survive inside the enemy’s walls as a double agent. As the exchange date draws closer, everyone gets tenser. After all, when you meet agents of Chaos in a theatre full of thousand innocents, what else can you expect than the chaos in their name?

    Dedication #4

    A new year approaches

A new year without you in it

    As I promised you

    I will continue to write

Lots to look forward to in the new year

New books to write, edit, publish

Enough to keep my mind occupied

But I’d give it up in one second

If it meant we could have you back.

    Obviously, that is not possible.

    So, I will surge on

Like you always wanted me to

    Like I always will do

    Like I will do forever

    In memory of you.

    Until we meet again.

    About the Author

    Account of Secrets

The tears stopped hours ago, but the pain in Luz’s chest just wouldn’t go away. Five hours and no news. The pain he felt paled in comparison to any physical pain he might receive. His parents. They had his parents. Who knew what horrible things they were doing to them right now?

His sheets currently encased his body as he lay in a fetal position underneath them. A soft hiccup of a sob occasionally popped out of his vocal chords, but he’d hardly said ten words in the last five hours of a totally engulfing, emotional cryfest. It was pathetic to be reduced to this, but he honestly didn’t care one bit. He just wanted his parents safe and back home, no matter what he had to do to get them there in one whole, unharmed piece.

A hand outside of his sheeted cave rubbed him comfortingly on the back. Still not gonna talk to me? asked Blaine Foster. Blaine had been his friend for most of his life. Since third grade, to be exact. Blaine had been quite shy at first, one of the shyest in Mrs. Birde’s class of nine year olds. Nikki had been Miss Little Popularity, but always jumped to pick Blaine and Luz over any of her popular friends. She’d been down to earth, kind, always one to voice against mistreatment or bullying.

Which made this whole situation as unbearable as it was painful.

I understand what’s going on, but not talking to me won’t solve anything.

Luz rolled his eyes and groaned softly. I’m pretty sure you don’t understand. Nobody would understand.

Oh really? Blaine answered, his tone bitter, "Where are my parents right now, Jetz?"

Stiffening, Luz grimaced. Tears started flowing again. He’d forgotten that his parents were probably only one cell down from Blaine’s. Both of their families had been abducted by ChaosBlaze, but no ransom demands had been asked for Blaine’s. They didn’t have any proof that the Fosters were even alive. Luckily, Division 3 of the MRC – essentially their team – had been able to rescue the two youngest of the Foster brood: Kayla and Richie. Yet, five hours later, and Luz didn’t have any kind of proof that his parents were still breathing. Sorry. Forgot.

Blaine’s hand patted his back. It’s fine. I’ve been in your shoes, so I understand the pain and lapses in judgement.

    Thanks.

No prob. I’m always here for you, dude.

A soft string of knocks rang from the bedroom door. Luz felt Blaine stand up from where he’d been sitting next to Luz’s sheet-covered lump on the bed. His padding socked feet practically echoed in Luz’s ears as he remained in patient anticipation. The door clicked open. After a few moments of silence, he heard someone he’d been waiting for: Can we come in, Blaine?

Luz scrambled upright, yanking the sheets off and stumbling off the bed to his feet. His eyes met only Gael’s and noted the somber look in them. Did they send their demands?

    Gael nodded. Yes, they did.

Do they have proof that they are still- He cut off when Gael lifted a printed picture on stock paper, his parents tied with ropes behind steel bars of a prison cell staring back at him.

Luz relaxed just a bit. For all he knew, Markus could’ve changed his mind and just killed them. The fact they’d sent requests meant they still had a chance. What are their demands? What is it they want? I’ll give anything.

Gael and Kyra, the latter who had accompanied the former, exchanged glances. Then, Gael finally looked back at him. You.

    Time stopped. What?

Gael swallowed, and Luz could see the Commander of Division 3 had a lump in his throat. They want you, Luz. You in exchange for your parents’ freedom.

Luz couldn’t comprehend exactly what he was getting at. His legs weakened, and he fell back, his rear landing with a soft poof back onto the mattress. I… I’m not sure I understand. What good am I to them?

Yeah, I don’t get it either! Blaine snapped, stepping between them. They’re not getting him. Over my dead body.

Gael sighed and looked around Blaine, meeting Luz’s timid gaze. The Director would like a word, Luz.

Blaine walked over to Luz, stating, Alright, we’re coming. I’ve been wanting to give this Director a piece of my mind for some time now.

    Him. Alone.

Blaine’s brow furrowed as he whipped back to Gael. "Listen here, Commander. He’s not going anywhere right now without me. He currently needs me, and I’m happy to give him the support he needs to deal with this bullsh-"

Luz reached out a hand and touched Blaine’s arm, cutting off his next curse word. Meeting his friend’s gaze, he told him softly, Kaga, I’ll go alone.

Why? Blaine asked, You need support, and I wanna be there for you.

With a crooked smile, Luz replied, "And I appreciate that. But this is currently my fight, not yours. I can handle
