H.E.Y( Heartbreaks Ended Yesterday) - Wendy Wang
You can’t ask someone to run the treadmill for you if you want to become slimmer.
Iwill not tell you I’m born perfect and I’ve not make any mistakes in life but I am grateful for all the obstacles I’ve faced as they are the ones which shape me to become who I am today. So, in this book I will share some of my experiences with you just to remind you that I’m also just a human who was once a person with no goals and purposes in life. Someone who did not see the worth and value in herself until one fine day, I’ve decided to have the courage to become who I’ve always thought I wanted to be. That superhero for herself because she had realised no one can be her hero except for herself.
Before you continue reading, I need you to strip off your ego and keep an open mind because honestly, a person will never grow if they have a fixed mind. I don’t want you to be that loser. You’re way better than that so, let’s build our empire together and become who we wanted to become. I believed, deep down you already know who you wanted to be in life, but most of the time we refuse to listen to our guts because of our fears of not being accepted by the society or worse, our beloved family. Whether you had a goal or an idea, I guess no one really wants to just be average. Everyone wants to become someone because it gives us a sense of superiority and validation. I’m not sure what’s in your goal list but I try to provide some useful guidance and hopefully you will find them helpful from this book. So, we are in this together. Are you ready? Let’s do this!
If you ever wondered why I chose the title H.E. Y (Heartbreaks Ended Yesterday) is because one, your heartbreaks should come to an end after reading the last page of this book. You will not have the time for bullshit as you will be too busy loving yourself and the second reason is to remind you to accept and love yourself for who you are. I’ve seen too many teenagers who do not see the beauty and values in themselves and that hurts me so much. Too often teenage girls define themselves from their looks or the handbags they have while the boys compared their latest sneakers collection or the chicks they’ve dated. How sad has our society become? I wish that after reading this book, you will stop buying things which are useless just to impress a couple of your friends.
I was once that loser who values material more than anything else until I realised somethings will never bring positive impact to life in a long run. I always felt worthless and that no one sees the beauty in me until I started making changes on myself. I started fighting for my own battles and created a new meaning to my life. I can’t tell you how much I wish for you to see your own beauty. We often admire others so much so that we forgot we are beautiful too.
My Lousy Story
My biggest nightmare was speaking when I was younger because I was the queen of introvert and I always felt that no one ever value my ideas or opinions so I don’t see the reasons for me to speak them loudly to anyone. Plus, a person like me really enjoyed the time to be alone. I didn’t like entertaining people, initiating conversations and talking if it’s not necessary. I would rather be alone in my little comfort zone doing things which make me happy. Call me lonely, weird or anything but I find ‘happiness’ in my little world. No one can hurt me in that bubble and that’s also one of the reasons why I rarely have any friends. I guess you can already predict that a person like me will most probably have trust issues and does not dare to believe too much of what someone has to say. I remind myself from time to time that it’s better to be alone because having a relationship or friendship means commitment, and commitment eventually leads to responsibility and expectations. Then, when there’s expectations, we all know we get disappointed much easier. Indirectly, you’re offering others a chance to hurt you. Don’t get me wrong. Everyone is different and that’s just me being extra caution of relationships and friendships. Adam Khoo( one of my favourite authors) once said EVENT + RESPONSE = OUTCOME. Not everyone see things the same so, the response which we give to a certain situation will reflect its outcome. Just like in this case, I choose to hold the believe that people only wants to hurt me and its not okay to build friendships or relationships which obviously leads me to have no close
