      I. A Culture Unhinged

      It is my firm belief that we are living in the end times. I could be wrong, as there have been many periods throughout world history that strongly parallel what the Bible describes as the final epoch. Whether it be Antiochus Epiphanes and his desecration of the Jewish Temple, Napoleon’s crowning himself emperor, or the blitzkrieg of Adolf Hitler, at many times in the past, prophecy students could have reasonably assumed eschatology was being fulfilled before their eyes. Perhaps we are simply living in another such cycle. Perhaps the signs of the times we are witnessing will turn out to be more of a foreshadowing than the substance of the actual apocalypse. Such is possible, but I do not believe this to be the case.

      One of the reasons I believe the present epoch is beyond a mere shadow has to do with the scope of the signs. Many of the more compelling reasons to believe the return of the Lord Jesus is near are global in scope. They are very large and very expansive, thus they’re hard to square with the idea that time can go on much longer.

      What are the signs? There are many. I’ll try to quickly rattle through a few.
