매우 익숙해 있는 나라의 이름입니까?
저도 이 나라에 본의 아니게 벌써 4번 이상 국제공항에 들어섰습니다.
학생 배낭 여행자로서 이 나라를 처음 방문하는 것을 비롯하여 다른 나라를 갈 때에 중간 기착지 (stop over)로 드나들게 되기도 하였습니다.
엣 왕조를 한 서양여인이 방문하게 되며 그려지는 에피소드로 만들어진 영화가 많이 인기를 누리게 되면서 사람들은 이 나라를 방문하고자 하는 목록에 거의 빠짐없이 써넣고자 합니다.
미소의 나라라고 하는 이 나라는 이제 몰려드는 관광객으로 인해 관광의 대국으로 변모되어 있기도 합니다.
역사적인 유적지도 많고 매력적인 휴양지도 많은 이곳은 숙박시설도 많고 음식점도 많은 여행하기에는 편리한 관광지였습니다.
현지인이 “ 태국의 모든 것은 왕을 위하여 존재하고 왕을 위하여 행동한다”라고 했을 정도로 왕의 권력이 절대적인 곳이기도 하였습니다.
