Bold colors and clean lines capture the Art Deco style of the 1930s and are great for adding a personal touch to a man’s everyday belongings. This alphabet has been used to make a stylish coffee mug cozy.
You Will Need
• 3¹⁄2in × 5in (9cm × 12.5cm) white 14-count Aida
• DMC floss (stranded cotton) as listed in chart key
• Tapestry needle size 24
• Lightweight iron-on interfacing
• Mug with straight sides
• 12in × 4in (30cm × 10cm) thick felt
• Two buttons
• 6in (15cm) length of ¹⁄2in (1.3cm) wide elastic

Finished size of mug cozy: 10in wide × 2¹⁄2in high (25cm × 6.5cm)

Make the Mug Cozy
1. Plan out the position of your letters and prepare your fabric for stitching. (If the name is too long to fit around your chosen mug, use the recipient’s initials instead.) Stitch the design following the stitching notes with the chart.
2. Once the embroidery is complete, fuse iron-on interfacing to the wrong side and trim the fabric neatly, leaving a ⁵⁄8in (1.5cm) border around the
