Home Sweet Home

Designed by Helen Philipps

A Home Sweet Home sampler used to hang in many houses in the days when schoolgirls stitched as part of their education. This sampler reaffirms that tradition in a bright, contemporary way.

You Will Need

•  12in x 14in (30cm x 36cm) white 28-count linen

•  DMC floss (stranded cotton) as listed in chart key

•  Tapestry needle size 26

•  Bird button

Design Size

8¹⁄2in wide x 10in high (21.5cm x 25.5cm)

Charted Design

Home Sweet Home

Make the Sampler

1. Prepare your fabric and stitch the design following the stitching notes with the charted design.

2. Once the embroidery is complete, sew on the bird button with matching thread (see photograph for position).

3. Press your work carefully, avoiding the button, and frame as a picture.
