      When I Woke Up…

      Pull a curtain over my eyes.

      Take that same one, then snatch it from my body.

      Feathers breezin’ in thy air

      Just to keep some distance ahead.

      The music of the mornin’ is blastin, creatin’ so much noise.

      Only to flush out all the quietness this room once held.

      Maybe too much tranquility, so—

      Why are my legs joined in this formation?

      I could have sworn that I have been sleeping

      for all this time, but when I woke up—

      My eyes were pried into the yonder of contempt

      Not knowing who I was, or having any knowledge of self-love,

      or any smarts that could be encompassed within this space.

      Flex

      Young nigga tryna’ get to a check.

      Wantin’ to flash n’ stunt just so I can make

      those people who doubted me—

      Feel the same way I felt before the come up.

      A harsh, sweltering feeling of condescension.

      Envy and sadness to complete the set.

      I wanna flex.

      I ain’t talkin’ bout’ just the wads of cash

      these hoes wanna sell their morals for.

      Pussy ain’t all that exciting.

      It ain’t the Bentley I wanna drive that I could

      crash into a wall if I’m not careful.

      Why not be a safe in a Chevy?

      I want to continue accomplishing my goals.

      These doors the world shut on me long ago?

      Pry them open with a safety pin, will ya?’

      Can I get a chance to see the world in a light—

      A light that I never screwed in?

      A bulb that I evidently presented which went shattering

      upon impact cuz’ these fools wanted to seize me of all opportunity?

      I got my wind back the universe is bowin’ at my heels.

      So, show some respect and watch me on TV as I flex on you again.
