About this ebook
“Am I supposed to be somewhere else?”
Primcella nodded. “You are the Most High of the Land Where
Anything is Possible. Everyone is waiting for you. Does that
sound strange?” Primcella watched as Auntie Clare sat up
straight and looked ever so much like a Most High. “It would
have yesterday, but not today. Let’s go home, before Miss Perfect
learns we’ve found her magic.” They walked out the back door
with the magic tucked safely in a satchel. Primcella carried
Chester and Mrs. Geranium to a door that appeared in
the middle of the lot across the street. Primcella knocked and
waited for the door to open.
“Welcome home, Clare,” Invenet greeted.

Going Home - Sandra Sherrod
You
Closing the door, they shut out Tralog’s scream. Pentil glimpsed Tralog jumping up and down on the insect tunnel where they had been hiding, screaming his name, something Pentil was sure he’d never ever forget. Invenet pushed the door firmly closed and Tralog’s world disappeared.
Pentil glanced at Invenet. The elf smiled. So, you’ve closed the door on Tralog once again.
Yes, again, the second time, he thought. I don’t want to do this ever again.
Invenet’s ears turned down. Me neither. I hate seeing the insects abused. It makes no sense. Tralog makes no sense.
The elf sat down in a small chair. Primcella cocked her head to one side. She was sure the chair hadn’t been there before. When did it appear?
Invenet smiled, showing two sets of teeth again. He had only one set when they traveled the tunnels. Why did he need the second set now? He saw her looking at him. So, Primcella,
he said, do you think you passed your Miss Perfect Test?
Ohhh, I don’t know. No one has given me a grade yet.
Invenet sat back in his chair. Well, I declare you a Miss Perfect of all six-legged creatures. Helena the Most High will surely send you a proper badge or whatever it is a Miss Perfect receives when she passes her test.
Invenet pointed to a chair. Sit. Let me rest. You too, Mericolt. And Pentil. Give me a moment before we open the next door.
Invenet’s head bobbed, his eyes closed. He began snoring as soon as the other three chairs appeared.
Why have we stopped here?
Mericolt asked, scuffing the bottom of his shoes on a nearby rock, frowning when the brownish stuff wouldn’t budge. It smells awful,
he murmured. How long are we going to stay here?
A while,
Pentil answered. We can’t grow to our normal size until we have some rest, too dangerous. We’re too tired to properly fill ourselves up.
Mericolt blinked a couple of times and sat in his chair. I never thought of that.
Before he could say anything else, his eyes closed. He leaned back into the comfortable curve of the chair and relaxed into a deep sleep, forgetting for a moment that his shoes stank.
Pentil felt a hazy cloud surround him. The misty substance shut out all thoughts of Tralog. Instead he saw Helena the Most High standing at the edge of the swamp. She greeted the rescued Inventors Extraordinaire and the crewmembers as they hurried across the bridge and stepped on solid ground in the Land Where Anything is Possible. He wondered when Helena had become friends with Tralog’s insects. A long time ago, he guessed, thinking of Ittle and how the bug came looking for them, saying the Lady was waiting.
Would they have made it back without Helena’s help? Before an answer came, the cloud surrounding his mind changed colors. From gray, the color changed to a soft blue, then finally turning to a turquoise when he heard a female voice. Was it Benadeena? Had to be. She was asking if they’d escaped. Heppon must be working with Helena in the Land Where Anything is Possible. Yes. He was certain Heppon had helped build the bridge between Tralog’s castle and Helena’s gardens. He opened his eyes briefly. Primcella’s head bobbed sleepily to one side, but not Mericolt’s. He was already awake, scraping his shoes, wanting desperately to clean off the stinky goo.
Why don’t you wait and let Benadeena’s cleaning unit do that?
Mericolt turned. Is that where we’re going next?
Most likely.
Mericolt smiled, looking happier than Pentil had seen him in a long time.
Was it worth it?
What?
Pentil asked.
Getting everyone out?
Why do you ask?
Because nothing was solved for me. I didn’t find what spell Tralog has on my mother, or how he captured Katalla. All we did was rescue the Inventors Extraordinaire. That’s great, but...
Mericolt shrugged. I would like to find...well, something about Katalla and my mother.
Mericolt returned to his chair and stared at the sleepy Pentil. I’m ready to go.
Rest,
Pentil insisted.
Chapter Two
Invenet sat up. "Time to go . Benedeena knows we’re nearby. She’s waiting. Ready to grow?" Without waiting for an answer the elf changed their sizes easily---without even aligning with the local planets---growing so quickly to their normal size that Mericolt felt his shoes tighten around his feet. The ugly stuff that stuck to the bottom of his shoes didn’t stretch as quickly as his feet inside the shoes.
Mericolt wondered what planets were nearby. How could the elves change sizes this fast without aligning with the planets? An elf trick, he finally decided, but he didn’t have time to think through the problem. They were only steps away from the hallway with all the colorful doors.
When they entered the long hallway, Primcella tried to read the information written above each door, but still nothing made sense, until Invenet opened a door to a room with a second door.
Welcome,
Benadeena whispered. Welcome to my home.
We smell awful,
Mericolt scraped his shoes on the stones outside Benadeena’s door, but still the goo stuck.
Come, come, Mericolt. That’ll wash off in my cleaning unit.
Benadeena gave Pentil an extra long hug. My friend,
she whispered. Don’t disappear like you did before.
Pentil nodded toward Primcella and Mericolt. I have to stay with them.
Primcella stared at Benadeena. Her long, dark hair was tied up in a bright red
