About this ebook

Seized and evacuated by Winston Churchill’s War Office in 1943 to help with 'the war effort', the Dorset village of Rouklye has been in ruins for decades. When the decidedly odd Juby Bench shows fifteen-year-old Midge Miller round the ruins, she is intrigued in spite of her determination to dislike the man and her present situation. Her interest is further heightened by the appearance of the ‘almost-there boy’, who, given his likeness to Juby, she takes for the ghost of him as a lad. But how can he be a ghost when he’s still alive, all these years later…?

____________________________

The action of the novel takes place in and around a real English village appropriated by the British government in 1943 and never returned to its residents and owners. The ruined village can be visited at certain times of the year to this day, even though it is designated ‘Army property’ and still used for troop training purposes.
