    Introduction

One of the most frequent questions we are asked is What happens when you die? It is a question that intrigues and sometimes frightens men, women and even children. Everyone is mortal and of course, will end their life with death. There is no way of avoiding this unless you are one of the few people who like Jesus or Mohammed physically ascend into Heaven.

We have both experienced a ‘Near Death Experience’ when individually, we have had the opportunity to die or stay on Earth. So our ‘little taste of death’ has enabled us to understand some of the actual physical mechanics of dying.

Plus, as clairvoyants and mediums for over forty years combined experience, we have summoned and channelled hundreds of spirits who once lived on Earth as living breathing people.

We also have the psychic ability of being able to channel higher spiritual beings such as the Ascended Masters and Archangels who are happy to share information with us about death, dying and the deceased. With all these resources, we feel that we can lovingly share these messages and experiences with you, so that your understanding of this vital life stage will be increased and hopefully, your fear of this very natural state will decrease!

Chapter 1 : The Dying Process

Many people tell us that they are not afraid of death, but they are afraid of actually dying. They worry about being dependent on others or suffering intense physical pain. Many of these people believe in an afterlife, Heaven and an angelic existence, but very rightly, the actual process of getting to these higher states, bewilders and frightens them.

We commonly speak to nurses and people who have sat beside a loved one as they moved from life into death and very rarely do we hear a disturbing account. Instead we hear stories of peace, tranquility and acceptance.

Here are several accounts that generally sum up the situation. "I sat beside my mother who was very weak from illness, but she held my hand firmly and occasionally muttered a few words. I began to pray to God to release her soul, so that she could go to Heaven. There was a great serenity in the room. She suddenly opened her eyes, said my name ‘Caro’ and smiled.

Then she looked to one side and distinctly said the name of her late husband ‘George’ who had died many years before. She smiled and shut her eyes and I felt the life leave her. She looked so calm and free of worry and pain!"

This woman assured us that her mother’s easy death had relieved her own fears about dying and the continued existence of the soul.

A palliative care nurse Rod told us that many of his patients die peacefully and with a genuine calm acceptance of the situation. "We see them frightened and in pain, but at death, they suddenly become calm and resigned. When they let go, their faces change and become younger and softer.

I have noticed that while their families are around they tend to hold onto life, but even if their loved ones go away for just a short break, they allow themselves to gently drift away. It seems even in their last minutes of life that they don’t want to upset their families!"

One very psychic nurse told us that Frequently at the point of death, I feel a great change in the patient’s room. I have often seen a golden glow approach the bed and touch the dying patient. Then the patient calmly takes their last mortal breath and a golden light leaves their body and joins with the golden light beside the bed. The light then gently ascends to the ceiling and disappears!

We have even heard of dogs and cats that live at nursing homes and psychically aware that a person is about to die, enter the client’s room and sit patiently by their sides while the spirit departs from the physical body. While you may think that this would upset
