About this ebook

Life has many detours that it presents to all without any form of discrimination; whether you’re a believer or not. It is during these unplanned and unforeseen detours that we need to hear from a higher power than ourselves. It is during these times that those who know their God need a Word made flesh.

During one of the greatest detours of my life, the Word of God was made flesh to me. It ceased from being just a word written in the Bible, to becoming the bread that fed my soul when nothing else made sense; when all hope was becoming faint. During this time, God spoke to me in the clearest of voices comforting and guiding me through the valley of shadow of death.

This book, The Journey That Is Life, is a series of conversations between the Lord and I, the conversations I have decided to share with many who need the same word I had. Upon reading this book, the eyes of your understanding will be enlightened; that you may know the hope of His calling.

    Preface

A Journey That Is LIFE: like a plant taking root on dry ground is a book about the process of going through life from the beginning; that is upbringing, to maturity. It is discussed in the book the various challenges in life and the understanding thereof from the Biblical perspective. As the tittle indicates, the book is about a life journey, the journey that starts like the growth of a plant taking root on dry ground.

The inspiration for the book was the author’s own journey through life and the difficult circumstances he found himself in while pursuing success and riches of this world. The inspiration came during a challenging period in his life, where he came across many who needed the same word that he received from the Lord.

The book is aimed at young and matured adults who struggle with emotional effects of their life from upbringing or childhood, to failures of their adulthood. It provides guidance and meaning to many of life’s challenges. It provides Biblical guidance and direction on how to make it out of the valleys and places of deep darkness that life may present to all who live. The reader will experience emotional and spiritual growth as they read through the book and have more understanding of the ways of the Lord.

The book begins with the discussion and evaluation of the tough and unfavourable circumstances that many experience and endure during the early stages of life. The first chapter is titled Raising a King/Queen because it takes a certain type of upbringing for a person to stand out from the crowd and have the ability and character to experience and maintain lasting success.

God revealed to Prophet Isaiah that it was His will that His Son Jesus should experience the birth, upbringing and life that he experienced. Many of us are called and chosen for a purpose and God chooses the kind of training and life lessons required to develop the character that will compliment that which He has called us to do.

The third chapter discusses the importance of having a vision for one’s life. In this chapter it is argued that the first step to losing hope for the future is losing sight of the future. When an individual no longer sees themselves making any contribution to their own future and the future of others, they have lost their sight; their minds eye is blind. This is the reason why this chapter is titled You Must See It First to Become or Have It.

God illustrated this point very well with Abraham when He took him outside in the middle of the night and showed him the sky with many starts so that Abraham may have sight of what he had been told about. It is with the spiritual eye, your mind’s eye that you see into the future and perceive the things that have not yet manifested in the physical realm. Those that have lost the sight of the mind, stop seeing beyond their present tribulations.

The author goes on further in the middle of the book to discuss Forgiveness that Results in Restoration. This forgiveness discussed in this chapter, is the one in which the person being forgiven is restored to the position they held and enjoyed with the forgiver before the sin was committed.

The restorative forgiveness is what Christ died for, so that we sinners could be restored to the Father in heaven. Further on in this chapter the author discusses the difference between people the reader should restore and those that should not be restored.

And to end the book, in the last two chapters of the book, the discussion is on how to release blessings in your life by your actions, words and attitude or character. It is argued that you have been given the power to possess that which you hope for in the future and that you are the one who must Permit It to Be, for you to Hear The Roar Of The Rain Coming.

Your actions have power to permit, allow or to prohibit or repel good things from coming to you. Our actions and behaviours are a shadow of things to come. In this way, your present has a power to build and mould your future, just as the animal sacrifices of the Old Testament were a shadow of the Christ who was to be sacrificed for our restoration. So the author teaches, in the last chapters of the book, on how to allow your success to materialise and also how to know and have the assurance from God that you can have that which you have been promised by God.

    Raising a King/Queen

It take a certain type of upbringing for a person to stand out from the crowd and have the ability and character to experience and maintain lasting success. God revealed to Prophet Isaiah that it was His will that His Son Jesus should experience the birth and upbringing that he did. Many of us are called and chosen for a purpose and God choses the kind of training and life lessons required to develop the character that will compliment that which He has called us to do.

It was the will of the Lord that his servant should grow like a plant taking root in dry ground. He had no dignity or beauty to make us take notice of him…All the while we thought that his suffering was a punishment sent by God. [Isaiah 53:2]

God told the prophet that He was the one who decided that Jesus should grow like a plant taking root on dry ground. The dry ground on which to place the seed for the plant was chosen by God for its quality. God could have chosen to have Jesus raised up in any other family, than the one he was raised up in. He chose that His son be born in a barn. It was God’s choice that He grows up in the family He did. To develop the characters in him that He needed for the purpose He was to fulfil on earth, to ensure that he will be strong enough to endure the pain and disgrace of dying on the cross.

The Bible teaches that a human being is a spirit living in the body made from flesh. The spirit of a person is the essence of who the person is, not the flesh we see. This spirit is what is created out of the image of God. This spirit is what God communicates with as He is spirit Himself. The human spirit exists before the flesh, exactly as it was when Adam was formed out of the earth or dust. God created the human spirit first, and then formed the body into which He breathed the spirit.

Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations. [Jeremiah 1:5]

God chooses a person while they are still spirit before the person manifests in the physical. So, when a child is conceived, God has already chosen and set the person apart for a particular purpose. God then places the person or child in a family/home and community that will teach them and bring them up to be that which he has already called them to become. You are placed in a home and community that will produce the man and woman God want you to be, for you to be able to fulfil your calling. The circumstances you find yourself in in your childhood and youth are to create in you a person fit to possess what comes with
