Congratulations on purchasing this book and thank you for doing so. In this modern world, we are often on a time crunch. There are fast lanes, instant downloads, and express checkout lanes. Short of going out to buy greasy, unhealthy and often disappointing fast food, there should be a way of providing a tasty and healthy meal without the labor or cleanup. Most of us work full time jobs and busy schedules. We spend all day with a million things to do and often forget about cooking a good meal. We get home exhausted and sometimes dread the thought of cooking a meal and then cleaning all the dishes involved. The Slow Cooker can be an asset to your schedule, your stomach and your waistline! You will be able to eat a healthy, wholesome meal and not regret it the next day. Plus, you will have more time to do what you want and anyone can utilize this underappreciated appliance.
The following chapters will feature a wide variety of recipes that will fit anyone’s tastes. There are simple recipes for the picky eater in your family and there are exciting recipes for that adventurous eater! Most of the ingredients are easy to find or ones that are already waiting in your freezer or pantry. Furthermore, most of these recipes are ‘toss it in’ types which means in the morning you toss in the ingredients and then go about your day. Then when you get home and eat your delectable meal, there are very few dishes to do! Anyone can learn to cook these recipes as there is little prep and no risk with open flames. Hopefully this book will open the meal possibilities and show the versatility of the Slow Cooker.

Chapter 1: Just For Starters
Do you have a party you want to bring a dish to? Maybe you just need a side dish to go along with a meal. Either way, the following recipes are great additions to any event or meal.
TACO DIP
5-7 hours in the slow cooker
Yields about 7 cups
14 ½ ounce can of tomatoes, stewed
15 ounce can of black beans, drained and washed
15 ¼ ounce can of corn, drained
1 taco seasoning envelope
8 ounce can of tomato sauce
16 ounce can of kidney beans, washed and drained
4 ounce can of green chilies, chopped
¾ cup(s) of chopped onion
Tortilla chips
Place everything into the slow cooker, excluding for the chips, then cook for 5-7 hours on low. Serve with Tortilla Chips.
MAC AND CHEESE
4 ½ hours in the slow cooker
Yields about 10 servings
16-ounce package of elbow macaroni
12 ounce can of evaporated milk
½ cup(s) of melted butter
1 cup(s) of milk
10 ¾ ounce can of cheddar cheese soup
2 beaten eggs
4 cup(s) of cheddar cheese, shredded and divided
1/8 teaspoon(s) paprika
Make the noodles in accordance with the package directions and drain. Put pasta and butter into the slow cooker. Next, in a separate bowl mix the milk, soup, evaporated milk, eggs, and 3 cups of the cheese together. Pour the mixture into the cooker, stirring well. Cook for at least 4 hours on low. Lastly, add in what cheese and paprika are left and cook further until all is melted.
WILD RICE WITH MUSHROOMS
7-8 hours in the slow cooker
Yields about 12-15 servings
½ cup(s) of butter
1 cup(s) of brown rice
3-4 ounce cans of mushrooms
2 ¼ cup(s) of water
10 ½ ounce can of beef consommé
1 cup(s) of wild rice
10 ½ ounce can of French onion soup
Mix all ingredients in the cooker. Cook for 7-8 hours on the low setting.

3-4 hours in the slow cooker
Yields about 5 cups
