About this ebook

Harrison has spent years building up his company, making it the success it is today.
But he's getting the itch now, that little whisper of dissatisfaction.
It's time to move on, try something different.

He just needs the right person to sell to, someone who knows what they're doing.

That's where Victor Torres comes in.

Hot. Sexy. Capable.
Alpha.

Harrison wants to sell to him, knows he'll be leaving his company in expert hands.
However, he has no desire to be under anyone's thumb again.
Professionally or personally.
And he definitely has no desire to ever be involved with an arrogant Alpha ever again.

But Victor wants a package deal. One that includes Harrison.
And he's a patient hunter...

    VICTOR'S MATE

    *****

    Chapter 1

    Victor

    Is this accurate?

As far as we can tell. The projections look good, there doesn't seem to be any shady bookkeeping going on...I'd say it's solid.

I nodded, flipping through the file though I'd already read it front to back more than once.

If I made a bad investment, it wouldn't just affect me.

    It would affect the pack.

With that thought in mind, I was always very careful with where I allocated funds. And I made sure to diversify as much as I could.

    People were depending on me.

All that said, this was looking promising.

Even after the vigorous vetting process, Future Tech checked all the boxes I looked for.

But though the company was solid, I wasn't interested in investing in it.

At least, not just in it.

I wanted to invest in Harrison Ray, the founder and visionary behind the thriving startup.

He was the heart of the company.

Without him included in the deal...

After giving it a quick and thorough review, I tossed the file back down on my desk and looked up at Hazel.

I want Harrison, I said, leaning back in my chair.

She sighed, crossing her arms in that long suffering way she was apt to.

Like I said multiple times before, he says he's only interested in selling the company. Not himself.

    I shrugged that off.

No was just the beginning of the negotiation.

He must have a price. Everyone does, I said, standing and moving over to the window. I would compensate him generously and give him free reign to create. I'm sure we can come to some kind of agreement.

It's not me you have to convince, she replied in a wry tone. I don't think he'll agree. Not considering the interactions I've had with him so far. And if you don't buy the company, someone else will. There's enough buzz around that I know he'll get multiple other offers. Actually, she added after a brief pause. I'd be surprised if he hasn't already.

I looked out at the lush forest in front of me, the various shades of green soothing the wolf inside. The snow topped mountains in the distance and the clear blue sky made the scene look almost too perfect to be real.

Exactly why I created our main business headquarters out here though the city would be more convenient.

The wolves who worked for me appreciated being so close to a good run.

So close to a slice of nature that called to them.

Hmm. I watched as a deer ghosted out of the edge of the trees to take a drink from the sparkling stream. I think we're at the point of doing the rest of this negotiation face to face.

I don't think he'll go for it, she warned. You might lose the whole deal if you stay stuck on this.

I looked at her over my shoulder, taking in the impeccably tailored suit and the sleek chignon she had her dark hair pulled into.

Hazel was always the consummate professional in every way.

Which was why I always had her handling the most important acquisitions in the early stages.

I had confidence she knew how to handle herself.

Let me worry about that. Just set up a meeting time for him. Tomorrow.

She nodded, getting to her feet.

She'd said her piece and now she was leaving it up to me, which I appreciated.

    Fine. On it.

    Thank you.

I turned back to the window as I heard her footsteps leave my office, the door shutting quietly behind her.

    Movement caught my eye.

I smiled a little as I saw a couple of the pups run across the field, racing to reach the treeline first. Their still fuzzy bodies were were plump, their coordination not quite where it needed to be yet.

    Adorable.

I watched them play for a while.

    And sighed.

Maybe it was time to call it a day.

Or at least time to take a break.

Turning away from the window, I closed down my computer and cleared off my desk. I didn't like coming into a mess in the morning. It always made me feel like I was starting the day off on the wrong foot.

That done, I left my office and took the stairs down to the first floor.

We had elevators, but mostly for visitors.

I tried to avoid those metal boxes as much as I could, as did the rest of my pack.

They always made me feel too claustrophobic.

The lobby was all gleaming hardwood and a nod to rustic touches juxtaposed with modern conveniences.

I'd wanted the place to look professional, but I didn't want to ignore the fact that we were in the middle of a forest either.

Leanne, one of my pack and a very talented interior designer, had stepped up to the plate.

And delivered exactly what I'd wanted, adding details that wouldn't have crossed my mind but that added so much to the feel of the place.

I was proud of the place.

    But nothing could beat
