    Darla Sommers drove down the highway ten miles above the speed limit and prayed there weren’t any State Highway Patrols in the vicinity. She had to get to her Aunt Dorothy’s house before dark and she didn’t need a speeding ticket.

    As she drove, she glanced at the Mighty Ohio River, its banks barely holding back its rain-swollen flow of muddy water. Branches of trees and other debris swirled in the current like ballerinas twirling on their toes.

    What else flowed with the swift current was anyone’s guess.
