      With the torpid serenity of afterglow shattered, Knox Hamilton was thunderstruck. It felt as if the room had been suddenly yanked out from under him.

      For the longest moment, he was unable to tear his gaze from Joel’s devastated hazel eyes. How could you be in love with me?!

      Joel sat beside him on the bed, tears streaming down his face. I can’t explain it, Sir. I just am. I love you!

      As he beheld the smooth boy, Knox was haunted by his initial doubts about getting physical with Joel.

      He’s only a kid and a vulnerable one at that. If I had a book about daddy issues, Joel would be the cover model.

      And stupid me! I encouraged him. Why the hell did I jump off this cliff?!

      Knox answered his own question.

      Because he’s so fucking beautiful is why!

      I didn’t know it before, but when a gorgeous boy offers up his mouth and ass, it’s so fucking hard to resist.

      Joel wants to be everything I need. That’s not his fault. He’s a naïve boy, but I’m the adult here. I should’ve known better.

      But what the fuck am I supposed to do now?

      With his body as rigid as a boulder, Knox felt the teen trembling against him. At that moment, Joel looked so lost and hurt that it nearly broke Knox’s heart. And with each second that passed, the silence only added to the growing chasm between them.

      Knox sat up on the bed abruptly. You can’t be in love with me, son. You’re just a boy.

      Now Joel was sobbing. "But you told me I was your boy! You even told me to call you: Dad."

      It was all true.

      Knox gulped, the reality of the situation washing over him.

      I just took this teenage boy’s virginity, but this isn’t just any teenage boy. This is Joel – Trent’s best friend. I watched him grow up. He’s like a second son to me.

      But now, our relationship is forever changed.

      I took this sweet, accommodating boy into my bed and then took his mouth and ass.

      I have to fix this!

      Wiping away his own tears, Joel stood, his eyes drifting everywhere except for Knox’s intense gaze.

      Knox’s greedy eyes traveled all over the boy’s smooth, muscular form until his gaze landed on Joel’s bubble butt which was framed magnificently by the white straps of the jock. Reflexively, the man’s thirteen-inch cock began to stir. He grabbed the sheet, and, as discreetly as he could, covered his hardening dick.

      "You are my boy," Knox finally said.

      So why did you flip out when I said I loved you, Mr. Hamilton?

      But Knox stopped himself mid-excuse and truly considered where Joel was coming from. Aside from his daddy issues and his desperation to be loved by a strong male influence, Joel was blissfully unaware of the cruel games played by jaded adults. The boy didn’t know the anonymity of a one-night stand or the emptiness of a random hook-up. Joel couldn’t separate love from sex because he’d never had to.

      Joel may be a kid, but his feelings are so pure compared to mine. Maybe I’m the fool here, not him.

      And at that moment, Knox was struck with a realization.

      I’m just a cynical asshole, and this boy is the real thing. I know it’s so cliché, but how can someone so wrong for me be so right? I’m straight, and Joel is questioning his sexuality, but somehow, he’s become everything I want. He’s all I think about, and he’s exactly what I need. I care for him deeply, but am I in love with him?

      The boy deserves a real answer, Knox knew.

      With his shoulders slumped and his head hanging down, Joel mumbled. "I’ll go. I just have to find my clothes.
