      Chapter 1

      School finished in July. Thomas and his best friend Kofi played all Summer long.

      One day Thomas had an idea. Kofi, he said, lets build a Time Machine.

      Kofi was keen. They drew the machine, made a plan and looked everywhere for things to make it turn back time. They looked in the Attic and found an old clock. A clock that didn't tick or tock. They looked in the Garden Shed, the Garage and toolbox. Finally they came back to the Tree House, with wires and pliers, a computer and a sock.

      Kofi and Thomas worked all day long, every day for weeks.

      One day, Kofi's Mum and dad called him to come to dinner. Kofi left to eat. Thomas's little sister Annie helped him to build the Machine. They put big metal rings all around the outside of the Tree House.

      What's this? Annie asked. I can see through it.

      Thomas said, hey watch out you'll break it.

      I won't, Annie told him.

      Thomas said, it's powered by the Sun. The Time Machine will use the light from the Sun. It goes through the middle and into the engine.

      Like petrol for a Car?

      We can use it to travel back anywhere.

      Can i see King Arthur? Annie asked

      Thomas said yes we can go anywhere. Now lets go back to work.

      The sun was setting. Finally, Annie and Thomas had finished the machine.

      At last, Thomas said, we're done. Now lets test it. He opened his history book. "I know we'll go back to Ancient Egypt. We can go and see all of
