I still remember the day I saw my first wild reptile. I was seven years of age and fishing with my father along the Maribyrnong River in Melbourne when we discovered a blue-tongued skink on the bank. After some very thorough nagging and pleading, I consequently had my first pet lizard. This chance meeting began what has become a life-long passion and intrigue surrounding reptiles of all shapes and sizes. More than two decades later, I am still just as excited to chance upon a blue-tongued skink or indeed, any reptile. I currently maintain a collection of over 200 reptiles encompassing approximately 50 species. Living and working with reptiles has given me a great insight into their private lives, some of which I hope to pass on in this publication. As well as living, breathing and dreaming reptiles, I have also become increasingly keen on photographing them both in captivity and particularly in the wild. It is extremely satisfying to be able to observe natural acts in the wild and to be able to capture them as an image for eternity and to share them with the world. Now married and with a daughter, I hope to be able to pass on to her much of the knowledge I have gained, and to help promote and nurture her interest in these fascinating and unique animals.
