Prayer Principles for Beginners - Queen Phillips

    Word of Encouragement

IF YOU ARE A BEGINNER, meaning a new follower of Jesus Christ, I want you to know that you have made the greatest decision you will ever make in this life! WELCOME to the Family!

I do not want you to be ignorant concerning this new journey you have begun.  It is a faith walk, meaning you will have some experiences specifically designed to get you to the place of complete trust in your heavenly Father.  You will make some mistakes along the way, but He will never stop loving you. He will never leave you nor forsake you.  Therefore, I encourage you to never walk away from Him; always draw closer to Him regardless of the challenges, difficulties, trials and tribulations.  Now that you belong to Him, He is your Source of strength, comfort and hope in this life.  With Him, you can be confident that even your tragedies will turn out to be triumphs.

The only way to draw closer to Him is through a consistent and constant prayer life.  Prayer is powerful! It keeps you connected.  There will be times when you don’t feel like praying.  You must discipline yourself to pray.  The enemy knows that prayer and the Word of God are weapons; he will do whatever he can to distract you and keep you from praying and studying God’s Word.

As Jesus told His disciples in John 16:33, so I tell you:

I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence. In the world you have tribulation and trials and distress and frustration; but be of good cheer [take courage; be confident, certain, undaunted]! For I have overcome the world. [I have deprived it of power to harm you and have conquered it for you.]

    Be encouraged,

    Queen

    The Premise

THE SUBJECT OF PRAYER is extensive.  There is no shortage of books on prayer.  It is a universal subject, but different in practice, methodology and style based on one’s religious system of beliefs.   Two things make prayer universal; they are: definition and faith.  A general definition of prayer in any religion is simply talking to or communication with a deity or divine being.

The second thing that makes prayer universal is personal faith— believing and expecting that the divine being or deity you’re talking to hears you, will respond favorably to you, and has the power to grant your request and change things.  Prayer is also expressions of devotion that can keep you spiritually connected to God, which should influence every aspect of life and creation.

Prayer Principles for Beginners was divinely inspired to give basic principles, strategies and instructions from the Word of God (Holy Bible) to inspire you and encourage you to have a powerful, consistent prayer life as a Christian.

Who are beginners? Beginners are new converts to Christianity, aka, babes in Christ. These converts may be the non-traditionalist and un-churched— those who are not accustomed to the traditional prayers and charismatic antics that sometimes come across as entertainment rather than conversations with Abba Father.  In some instances, beginners are intimidated by the prayer style of others. Consequently, they are too timid to pray, especially in small group prayer setting and corporate prayer services.  Focusing on how others pray can hinder the development of their prayer life; it may never develop in public or private because they’re convinced that a certain style of prayer is required.  When there is no constant and consistent prayer life, which equates to fellowship with God, there can be no spiritual growth and maturity.  Therefore, your relationship with Him is broken because your line of communication shuts down. When that happens, babes in Christ will end up in what is called a backslidden state without having the resources needed for growth.  Since a consistent prayer life is most critical for beginners (new Christian converts), it is imperative that they are provided the necessary resources to enhance their faith walk and help them develop in their new relationship with Christ.

Additionally, I have witnessed persons accept Jesus Christ as Savior; however, His lordship over their life is never established because there was no constant communication (prayer) to receive the power, strength and stability required to overcome the temptations that arise. When new converts struggle with developing and maintaining a prayer life, their relationship with God suffers. Consequently, they lose hope, become faint and give up on their faith walk, especially if the challenges they faced before accepting Jesus Christ as Savior doesn’t get
