"H ow far now, Lisa? Can you have a look at the map?' Asked James as he threw a sharp glance to his left, over to Lisa, connecting his deep brown eyes with her light ocean blue ones. A veil of desperation hung over his face; like mist on a foggy day, he was in real need of sleep. Thick dark bags lingered under James' eyes like a rain cloud that was ready to burst. It had been two days since he had rested any longer than five minutes and this was taking a toll on how he thought and approached his situations. James was a mostly placid and chilled out kind of guy. He had his hobbies and activities like anybody else; which included playing football, having a couple drinks with his friends and most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his fiancé, Lisa. If there was one thing he loved most in this world, it was Lisa Hannon. Lisa and James had fallen hopelessly in love with each other throughout their freshman year at high school after meeting in their social sciences class.
He had been known by his close friends and family as the calmest, most patient person you will ever meet, but due to his lack of sleep, his patience was wearing thin.
Lisa reached out into the compartment over the front seat, pulled out a folded piece of coffee stained paper, unwrapped it carefully, brushed her bouncy blonde hair out of her face, and surveyed the map closely. She glared at the map like a cat watching a bird, waiting to jump in for the kill. Lisa began trailing her forefinger up and down trying to calculate how much longer it would be for them to arrive at their destination, Blue Springs. Blue Springs is the place where everyone wants to be in the summer times. Live music, free food, talent shows and even stunning firework displays each night. The festival runs for about three days and is called the Summertime Slam-Down.
If I'm correct, we should be roughly around sixty-four miles away from Blue Springs.
Lisa explained as her finger paced up and down the large map, scattering around the names of unknown places and streets.
Oh, really?
James replied followed by a yawn that must have contagious to Lisa, because her mouth gaped wide open as she huffed for oxygen like a fat kid that tried their luck at a running marathon. Disappointment also showed in his tone of voice, because sixty four miles away was still quite a bit of a drive for him. I'm getting really tired and we still have so long to drive.
Lisa paused for a second, reached into her bra, pulled out a handkerchief and wiped the tears of tiredness that were leaking from her eyes like a tap that hadn't been twisted tight enough. We have been travelling for almost two days now, maybe we should pull over somewhere and have a rest.
Good idea.
Piped up a tired Veronica from the back seat, rubbing her tired, reddish eyes. Veronica had wavy, brunette hair that reflected the moonlight that seeped through the windows of the car. Her facial expression that was usually welcoming and friendly; had ticked over almost hostile due to her lack of sleep. But she wasn't hostile at all, just getting a bit restless as everyone else was. Her boyfriend on the other hand, David, was getting overtired and a bit snappy too. David would normally come off as a bit of an asshole, but if you had earned his respect (which takes a while and is quite difficult to obtain), then he would most likely do anything for you. He was very loyal to his friends, his family, and especially Veronica. His hair was short, almost curly and of a
