30 Tips to Become More Organized and

    More Accomplished

    By Jeff Davidson

In this e-book, you will learn the principles of personal organization that will allow you to accomplish more in less time with less stress. You will also learn how to arrange your office, desk, and working materials in the most efficient way, and how to streamline your meetings at work.

Some people seem to be born organized. When you look at their desks, offices, cars, and homes, everything seems to be in its place. The way they schedule and complete projects, or even make time for leisure, seems to say I’m organized. Conversely, others seem to have a knack for disorganization. All the spaces of their lives seem to be cluttered. Project files are all over place. They never know where anything is.

Is being organized versus not being organized a matter of being born under a lucky star? Or, do people who are organized engage in a few key behaviors that anybody can learn?

    Left Alone, Disorganization Prevails

Being personally organized involves learning a simple set of techniques and mastering a few skills that are in the grasp of anyone. Consider this; everything in the universe is subject to entropy. Entropy is that physical phenomena whereby everything, even the entire universe itself, keeps expanding, keeps going forward. If you leave a field alone and come back several years later, the grass will be higher, weeds will abound, and new plants will have sprung up. Indeed, the natural state of planet earth is abundance. Left alone, lush tropical forest arises.

If you leave a house alone –everyone moves away and no one tends to it – in ten years, the house will be subject to entropy. The yard will be overgrown. Cracks will start to show up in the foundation or elsewhere. Even if this house were way out in the wilderness where no one would encounter it, the paint would begin to chip. The roof might leak, and bricks in the chimney might come loose.

When the house is populated by residents, and a little thing goes wrong, they fix it and hence continually restore the house to operable condition. When a house is abandoned, however, what happens? Any little thing, such as a storm, the wind, squirrels prancing across the roof, or rainwater gathering around the foundation can result in damage. If the damage goes untreated, it increases the probability that yet more damage will occur.

On a personal basis, consider your own teeth. If you develop a cavity and leave it untreated, it’s likely to get worse. If you don’t get that cavity filled, and enough time passes, you could end up needing a root canal. Even worse, you might lose the entire tooth.

    Entropy in Your Office

Entropy is alive and well in your hard drive, on your desk, on your shelf, and in all the spaces of your life. Suppose you’re plagued by recurring piles on your desk. Piles might include documents, reports, newspapers,
