About this ebook

A page-turning debut written in the tradition of R.L. Stine's Fear Street, Goosebumps or
Haunting Hour.
In the town of Riverville, there is a street.
It was a street where they used to hang witches.
It is a street where students from school are known to have vanished without a trace, even
till today.
It is a street where strange things happen to people.
It is called Fox Street.
But kids at school call it by another name.
The Witch's Street.
One late night, Peter sneaks out of his house and goes to a bar called The Owl, to meet
gorgeous ladies. As it turns out, the bar also happens to be in the Witch's Street. In The Owl,
he meets Elizabeth, an attractive blonde woman in a red dress. Peter thinks he's in love with
Elizabeth, but there is more to her than meets the eye.
Free Chapter:
“Honey, I’m off to bed!!!!” Peter’s mom calling out from her bedroom.
“Ok mom!!!!” Peter responded from the kitchen downstairs. He closed the kitchen
door and was going to make himself a cup of tea.
As the kettle was boiling, he was thinking about the book he had just read.
The book had disturbed him.
And he didn’t want to believe it.
The pendant he wore was pictured on the book.
The antique dealer who gave it to him said that it was for good luck but that it also
warded evil spirits away.
The pendant saved the vampire from draining the life force of the hunter.
He wore that pendant when Elizabeth kissed him.
He didn’t fell asleep.
She was draining him of his life force.
Because she was a vampire.
That was what vampires did. They fed on the life force of other people.
And the pendant that he threw away slowed her down or at least weakened her.
It saved his life.
Inside a house that wasn’t even hers, but one she was just using because she knew
that no one lived there.
And she easily opened the door of that house, because she had supernatural strength.
When the kettle had finished boiling, he made himself a cup of tea.
He couldn’t believe what he was thinking.
It was crazy.
He knew that he couldn’t go to sleep right away and so went into the living room.
He placed his cup down by the table in front of the couch, switched the t.v. on and
then sat down by the couch. He looked at the clock by the cupboard next to the t.v. It was already nearly midnight.
He just waited for the news to come on.
He needed to watch and know what was going on around the world.
To keep his mind off his worrying thoughts.
As Peter was sipping from his cup, he was listening to what the anchorman had to
say.
“........he had been reported missing and never came home...” the anchorman reported.
But as Peter saw the picture of the man on the t.v., his heart was beating.
He dropped his cup on the floor, not fully paying attention to the sound that his
dropping had made.
He saw the picture of the man who was missing.
He recognised who the missing man was.
It was the man from The Owl.
The one who was chatting with Elizabeth.
Oh my God!!!, Peter thought.
He was afraid.
He was afraid for his life.
And then the phone rang. His house had a phone, that was on top of a square table
next to the couch.
He picked up the phone.
He wondered who would be calling his house at this time.
His mom’s boyfriend?
Perhaps a friend of hers?
Or maybe one of his?
“Hello?????”
Silence. But he could hear someone breathing on the other side.
“Hello?????” Peter repeated.
“Peter!!!!! Is that you!!!!!”
Peter recognised the voice.
Elizabeth’s voice.
His heart was beating.
“I know it’s you Peter!!!! I can even hear your heart beating!!!!” Elizabeth said.
He wasn’t sure what to do.
He had to lie.
“Sorry??? Who’s this????” Peter playing dumb.
“Don’

The Lady In Red - Jules Fier

    Prologue

    Chapter 1

Come on Chris!!!! Aren’t you tired of doing the same ol’ thing???? Peter Manning complained.

Chris Bolton shook his head. Chris tore himself a piece of Garlic Nan, folded it in half, dipped it on the coconut sauce and chunked it inside his mouth.

Chris looked like he enjoyed the taste of the nan inside his mouth.

God you’re so boring, you know that!!! Peter cried. I mean just for one night!!! Just one lousy night!!! That’s all I ask!!! I mean, aren’t you even lonely that you don’t have a girlfriend, at all!!!!

    Chris smiled.

Look!!!! If you wanna go, why don’t you go!!! You don’t really need me to come with you!!!! Chris stated.

But it would be boring if I went there all by myself!!!! Peter cried.

Look!!!! I know why you wanna go!!!! I mean no one asked you to go out behind her back!!! If you didn’t, you’d still be going out!!!! Chris chuckled.

Some friend you are!!!! Peter whined.

Peter Manning had a girlfriend but when she found out that he dated other girls behind her back, they broke up.

On the bright side, you’re not tied to anyone anymore and are free to go out with whenever you choose!!!! Chris laughed.

Peter Manning eyed his friend in an annoyed way, sipping his own cola drink.

Both boys hanged out a lot, despite their many differences.

Peter Manning was tall and skinny, with brown hair and green eyes. Many students in Riverville High told him that he looked like some famous actor.

He wanted to go out with as many girls as possible, but his ex-girlfriend Kelly was very possessive. And now that they were no longer going out, he had far more freedom and no longer needed to do anything in secret, which had also been very inconvenient for him.

Chris Bolton, on the other hand, was a ginger- haired guy with freckles, who never had a girlfriend and he was only interested in one thing and one thing only.

    His online life.

    Playing World of Warhammer.

Much shorter and fatter than his mate, he claimed to have no time to exercise and do many other things apart from playing and getting involved in his online game, which he logged on to nearly every day.

But apart from their separate individual lives, both boys still went eating and drinking together.

And you know what I think. I think many hot girls go to that club!!!! From our school!!! And you know what else I think!!! Peter trying to be convincing.

    What?? Chris asked.

I think many hot women go there too!!! Really hot fit birds!!! Peter smiling.

What’s the name of this bar again??? Chris asked.

The Owl!!! Cool name!!! It’s an all-night bar!!!! Peter smiled.

    Typically English name!!!! Chris yawned.

Forget that!!! The girls and women there are easy!!! I’m pretty sure you had one-night-stands before!!! Peter nodded.

Actually no!!!! Chris confessed. Without a care.

Ok!!! Ok!!! What if I told you that the guy who runs the bar, does not even check or even ask for Ids!!! You know what that means!!!!! Peter not giving up.

Chris sipped his cola drink and then smiled at Peter.

That you can drink alcohol as much as you want!!!! Don’t worry!!! If you do go there, I won’t tell anyone!!! I’m much more interested in World of Warhammer than I am in going to some pub!!!! Chris was straightforward.

    Peter sighed.

Find someone else!!! It’s just not my thing!!! Chris said.

    But that was the problem.

Peter asked his other friends. Other mates. Many were busy. Few just couldn’t be bothered.

I did!!!! But they were busy!!!! Peter cried.

Reason why Peter wanted someone to go with him, was mostly because of two things.

    He didn’t have a car.

And that they could split the cost of the car fare.

And where is this bar again???? At which street??? Chris asked.

Peter tried to think about where it was.

    And then he remembered.

Ah yes I remember where it is now!!!! Peter smiled. And come to think of it, it’s not really that far from where I live too!!!!

Chris shot Peter a look of astonishment.

    Chris knew where Peter lived.

    At which street.

For someone who was an online addict, he knew Riverville pretty well.

It’s in Fox Street!!!!! Peter answered.

    Chapter 2

Are you alright???? Are you ok???? Peter asked Chris. Chris looked as if he was about to throw up.

Chris nodded his head. He didn’t have anything in his mouth. But he looked sick.

    Very sick.

Please tell me you’re ok!!!! Peter said.

Chris raised his right arm. An Indian waiter came and approached their table.

Is there anything else I can get you sir???? the waiter asked.

Could you bring me a glass of water please??? Chris said.

    Certainly sir!!!! the waiter replied.

    The waiter left them.

I think I need a glass of water!!!!! Chris said to Peter.

It was something I said!!!, Peter thought.

After half-a-minute, the waiter returned with a glass of water, placing it front of Chris.

Your water sir!!!! the waiter said.

Thank you!!!! Chris nodded to the waiter.

The waiter smiled, leaving both boys alone.

Chris took the glass of water and sipped from it.

After sipping from the glass, Chris put the emptied glass back on the table.

Chris gave Peter a very serious look.

Peter, did you tell our mates where the bar is or did they already know???? Chris asked.

    Both I guess!!!! Peter answered.

How did you come to know of this pub, in the first place???? Chris asked.

From other students!!!! Besides, I’ve been there before!!!! Peter said.

You have??? I thought it’s an all-night bar??? Chris asked.

I meant I’ve passed by there before!!! With the other guys!!! It’s a new bar!!! You know how gossip can be like!!! Peter smiled.

Not the guys you asked out...no!!!! Chris said.

Chris was starting to sound like a smart alec.

    Sarcasm in his tone.

    But not simple sarcasm.

One that had a pint of bitterness
