    Chapter 1

    Location – Commissioner Office

    Time – 11 AM

Assistant Commissioner Vasudev parked his SUV in the car parking area of the Commissioner office. He got down and started walking towards the Commissioner Purushotham’s room and there was some rush seen in his walk. Once he reached the commissioner’s room, he knocked the door.

    Yes..Please come in

Vasudev entered in and planted a stiff salute, for which he responded wavering a Hi.

    Good Morning Sir

    Good Morning Vasudev

Sir… Can I know the reason why you called me here?

Ya.. Will tell you.. take your seat

    Thanks… Anything important?

    Very important

Hope I didn’t drag you in between your important work

No sir.. Right now, whatever you are going to talk about is the priority

I can see that you have hurried up here after I called you. But let us talk something else other than work and then can get into that topic

    Vasudev smiled at him.

    Fine sir

Looks like you took some days off couple of weeks back… Where were you?

My mom was a bit sick. So I had been to my home town

    What was her problem?

She is an asthma patient and it gets aggravated during the winter time. She is alright now

    How about your dad?

As a retired person, he is just killing time and he is also an advisor to the Human Rights commission

I’m sure he is enjoying his life

    Yes sir…

    Is your wife working?

No Sir..She is a Home maker

I believe you have two kids…Right?

    That’s right

    Hope they are doing well

    Good sir

Cool man… A good family to enjoy your life

    Absolutely sir

Good… But, how will you feel when I give you a bad news right now

    Sir??

He picked up a sealed brown cover from his drawer and handed it over to him.

Here is your suspension order. The department has suspended you for six months

Those words hit him too hard and he struggled to digest it.

Sir?? Suspension order on me?? Did I do anything wrong?

Don’t you know what you did?

No sir…. I couldn’t find or recollect any reason for suspending me

If you couldn’t, then you should read this letter to find out the reason

Vasudev tore open the sealed envelope and took out a folded letter. There were a few minutes of silence in the room. He was hesitant to open it and looked at Purushotham, who was seated with a grim face.

Please go ahead and read it. Only then, you will know the reason for your suspension

But sir… I told you already that I have not done anything wrong or any mistake, which could result in a suspension

It is a typical victim’s dialogue…Almost everyone think that they haven’t done any mistake and you are not an exception.. So please go through the letter

Vasudev’s heart beat raised. He unfolded the letter and started to read the content.

    To,

    Mr. Vasudev,

    Assistant Commissioner of Police

    Dear Mr.Vasudev,

The Police Department is pleased and appreciates your efforts and brilliance in cracking the recent twin murder case, which led to the arrest of the culprits in 24 hours. As a token of your appreciation for you exceptional service and efforts, we are promoting you. You will receive a government order in the next few days in this regard. Keep up your good work and all the best.

Vasudev looked stunned and happily surprised reading the letter. He smiled and looked at Purushotham with his eyes packed with tears.

Looks like you have read the suspension letter

    He smiled again.

"Yes sir… I didn’t expect this promotion. Frankly speaking, it was not just me who worked in the twin
