    Fantastic high school novelette. Gangs, bullies and some sweet romance. As Eryk says, "You got no business being in love if you're just 15." Recommended.

I'm done screwing up, D W-B said. She threw her hair back. I'll learn from your mistakes. There's less bruising that way. Without even looking at Eryk, she picked up her books and put them in her backpack.

Damn it, Eryk said, in a whisper.

Dear God, man, Duke said. Unlisten, for your own good.

Ifala, another one of Eryk’s buddies, shook his head.

D W-B put her backpack on and hurried out of Barny's.

Eryk sat in the booth by the window, and stared wistfully after her.

Maybe you hated the class on modern poetry, not Eryk. He was into it.
