About this ebook

This book is a troubleshooting guide to the body, specifically the body's pain.

It won't make you a doctor or therapist over night, but it will teach you a little about how the body perceives pain.  There are many sources of pain, not all of them physical.  We will look at how the mind and body are closely related and how one affects the other.  We'll also look at how to affect one by using the other.

This is a book about "every day" pain, not a medical journal or self-diagnostic tool.  It is easy to read, with a clear and light style that will help you discover some of the less obvious sources of pain in your daily life.

Retrain the Pain is a webinar, a step by step system to help you learn about the body and mind and how they work together.  Where does pain come from – body or min, or both?  Is the brain separate from the mind, and what role does each play in the regulation of the body?

We will cover issues of anatomy and physiology and discover how the brain, mind and body work together.

We start with the nitty gritty of posture, how to assess it and how it affects bodily comfort.  We’ll see how faulty posture creates headaches, and how to put an end to the cycle.

Gut health is important to overall health in surprising ways.  We’ll learn about pain theory, how the brain deals with and creates pain and what’s going on.

This is a training system that will help you troubleshoot your pain and place back into your own hands the power over your health.  You are not the victim of pain.  You have power to influence and possibly even eliminate it.

    About the Author

Pain is something Carol puts her hands on every day.  With training and experience, it becomes obvious that all is not well with the person, with roots deeper than the pain that presents.

Sometimes, it is quite simply a postural fault, especially as we all crunch ourselves in front of computers for hours on end, whether we are working or playing.  Often the pain comes from a deeper source, but restrictions of health care protocols limit the amount we can directly ask, do and help with.

Here we can explore ideas for you to consider.

    Introduction

Pain.  It can stop you in your tracks, or grind you down to a slow halt.

If you fall down and break your arm, you'll be fairly confident where your pain comes from, how long it will last, and the general phases you'll pass through to the place of no-pain again.  You'll expect a full recovery.

But for many people there are mystery pains that arise, apparently out of nowhere, and either disappear again like a ghost, or stay stubbornly around until you want to scream in frustration.  Either way, this can generate anxiety and begin to make you feel like a victim, perhaps wondering when the next migraine will strike you down, or if that sciatica will start hanging around again like a rotten smell, tainting your every waking, and sleeping, moment.

The bias of modern Western medicine can easily lead us to the idea that the body is a bag of chemical reactions draped over a frame of mechanical parts.  Change the chemical solution by taking strong drugs, or swap out a knee or hip and, voila!  All should be well.

But what if we can't get replacement parts, or the drugs just cause oblivion so that you can't function with or without them?  Many try to live a whole, clean and natural lifestyle, and worry about the effect
