      Night came and went and the storm that drifted over Dendron refused to stop. Up stares in his home, John Earl, the Doctor of Surry County, opened his trunk. The large room was full of medicine and roots. Looking out of the window he saw tree after tree covered with snow vanishing into the shadows. There were trees with huge branches reaching out in tangled. And frozen branches supporting massive canopies of snow pressing down from above.
