Requieted/Unrequieted Love
()
About this ebook
Love heals, it energizes, it fulfills. But it also hurts. Sometimes it is requieted, sometimes not. In this collection of short fiction and poems, it's all about what is and what isn't reciprocated. Top Writers Block authors David H. Keith, Elizabeth Rowan Keith, Suzy Stewart Doubt, Alan Naylor, Phil Gerstner and Melissa A. Szydlek spin tales about things that are requited and unrequited.
Your purchase of this ebook not only helps promote the work of talented independent authors, it supports charity as well. Top Writers Block is an international group of writers who continue to donate all of their author proceeds to Sea Shepherd in France, an organization which devotes itself to preserving our seas and oceans and the life within.

David H. Keith was an early and steady contributor to Top Writers Block(TWB) since the second publication in 2011. He regarded himself as an unrepentant Hippie Child of the Earth, and a firm believer in social justice, inherent freedoms, and equality and opportunity for all. He passionately believed in love, peace, and laughter. Beginning a medic during the Vietnam War, he later served the public as a paramedic and as a care provider at an intensive care unit at a veterans’ hospital. His fiction, poetry, journalism, photography, and editing all received awards. His work sometimes still appears in TWB collections, submitted by his wife, author Elizabeth Rowan Keith.
The road loses itself
in darkness beyond
my headlights.
Ahead, unknown.
Behind, forgotten.
Left and right,
pinpricks of lights
pierce night’s fabric—
thoughts half-remembered.
Wind whisper-shouts against windshield—
companion to engine’s hum
and eternal scrape of tires against pavement.
Ahead now
an oncoming vehicle—
its headlights an intrusion
into my solitude.
Headlight glow
weds to mine—
an explosion of mingled passion.
Spectral lovers soon parted.
Part of my mind
remains always on the road alert for danger
But the greater part
is rolled back into itself—
into thoughts,
into memories.
The road goes on
leading nowhere—
leading somewhere.
The night is a lover
protecting me from the glaring eyes of others.
