      Introduction

      Welcome to the I Give Up! Why You Can’t Live the Christian Life study guide. Do you ever feel like it’s impossible to live the Christian life? That’s because it is! That’s why Christ has come to live His life in us. In this series, pastor, international speaker, author, and President of Living Grace Ministries, Dr. Wayne Barber, will be my guest for a life-changing process of understanding what God really expects from those who follow Him.

      Dr. Barber says, When I was lost, the flesh just dominated me. The law condemned me because I was under God’s holy standard of justice. But now Christ has met that standard on my behalf, I have been put under grace. Yet my flesh is still there. So Christ lives in me to overcome it— I just have to learn to cooperate!

      Romans 6:13 tells us, rather than always chasing after sin, I have the power to make the choice of presenting myself as an instrument of holiness to the Lord. But I must put my focus on yielding to Christ, not on not yielding to sin. If we do, Christ will create a hunger for Him that could never be ignited by our own willpower.

      These are three sessions based on God’s Word that will help you experience Christ’s power in your daily walk. We look forward to how this study will help you both better understand your own Christian faith and how it will help you in sharing your faith with others. Through it, we hope you will be better able to contend for the faith (Jude 3) as well as to show Christ’s love to those in need.
