    INTRODUCTION

    Gratiarophobia simply refers to the absolute fear some of us have for the Thanksgiving and other holiday periods. This is as a result of us not wanting to see family members due to heightened expectations of what we ought to have achieved throughout the year or simply not just not wanting to be in the midst of so many people asking questions they have no business with. It is also a time of the year when old rivalry and wounds are opened. We simply come together to fulfill this bonding requirements every November to give thanks notwithstanding the sacrifices we have to make. It is a time for giving thanks for seeing the year through. Food. That is another major obstacle quite a few of us have to overcome. The turkey, stuffing and the dinner table is not just another battle, but a series of hit and runs we have to partake in to win the war. Sufferers of Thanksgiving tend to give the buffet spread a wide berth and will rather be alone. This occasion is meant to be embraced and enjoyed. The high stress levels and anxiety you may likely experience during this time of the year is more often than not associated with the high expectations placed on you to enjoy the company which is likely unwanted and the food.
