About this ebook
Written by Scribd Editors
Author David Bowles is a teacher at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. He has written several books and is also the recipient of a series of awards from the American Library Association, the Texas Institute of Letters, and the Texas Associated Press. At a young age, Bowles was fascinated with legends and myths such as those found in the Iliad and the Odyssey.
In his book Feathered Serpent, Dark Heart of Sky: Myths of Mexico, Bowles intertwines the fragmented mythology that makes up pre-Columbian Mexico. The result is an exciting narrative.
A combination of the attempts of the Spanish Conquistadors and the Imperial Catholic Church nearly eradicated the history of creatino stories of the Aztecs and other Mexican people through murder and fire.
Small bits and pieces survived these attempts, and through extensive research matched with a powerful imagination, Bowles has been able to create the final masterpiece that is the beginning of the world to when Cortes first stepped onto the continent.
