Pivotal Analysis
On the 2nd of April, 1849, the English King Michael II died in a riding accident two weeks after his marriage to Sarah Wilkinson-Jones. Their son, Philipp III, ascended the throne on the 20th April 1870. The coronation was held in Midchester Cathedral in the twin cities of London-Bradfield.
Civil war is still raging across the Atlantic in the New Territories between the Northern and Southern States. Both States have severed contact with the English Government over the lack of material support in the world-wide energy crisis.
Hugo Brent, criminologist, and his assistant and lover, scientist Kathleen Higgs-Taylor, are requested to assist Inspector Lastrange of the London-Bradfield Constabulary concerning an investigation into a rich woman’s suicide. Later, they are called to a second death, a murdered female playwright; only to find that the major suspect, a theatre producer, is the husband of the first murder victim.
With the latest case solved it was not long before Kate and Hugo’s assistance is required once again. They are required to investigate a murder in which a woman admits to being the sole user of the murder weapon, after which, they are faced with another death and then another and have no choice but to seek clues in another direction.
Six weeks later and Lastrange is faced with another problem, he is convinced that there is a serial killer in the city who preys on prostitutes, leaving them with a diamond ring as compensation. He asks Kate and Hugo for help with the enquiries; meanwhile a minor suspect talks with a newspaper reporter hinting at his guilt, but Kate and Hugo have another suspect in view, not only that, Inspector Lastrange has arrested a robot and Hugo and Kate have to point out the error of his ways. Unexpectedly they are called to the Cauldar laboratory, where Bella and Amy thank them for their help. Kate becomes suspicious about Bella’s condition and Amy is forced to take them on a strange journey, something that changes their lives.
