About this ebook

The past can cast a long shadow on a relationship.

Susan Hay just wants to find a nice girl. Is that too much to ask? Susan thinks it is until she meets Ali Sams. To no one’s surprise, Susan, a long-haired femme, falls hard and fast for the cute and sexy soft butch who looks strangely familiar.

Ali falls just as fast, but Susan realizes that the familiarity she feels is linked to a painful childhood incident that sends her running away. Ali doesn’t remember the incident, but that doesn’t stop her from wanting to make things right. All Ali needs to do is get Susan to see her as more than who she was in the past, but Susan is not about to make that easy.

Nice Jewish Girls is the twelfth book in the Lesbian Light Reads series, but each book stands alone. This lesbian contemporary love story includes graphic sex involving sex toys and is intended for adults only.

    Chapter One

Come on. You know it’ll be fun. Besides I need someone to talk to while Emma networks. Please!

I rolled my eyes, but didn’t answer. I wanted to see if Katy, my former college roommate and current best friend, would throw in anything to try and convince me to go to the Lesbians Who Tech mixer with her and Emma, her girlfriend of a year.

    The silence worked.

Susan, I’ll bring you some salted caramel drinking chocolate from the chocolatier down the street. You won’t have to spend the evening nibbling on carrot sticks and cheese cubes. And you might meet someone nice.

The word nice stretched out on her tongue like a fresh stick of gum. I ignored it and filed it away in the back of my mind along with all of her other suggestions over the past year that I date or at least get laid. I told her the chocolate better be extra hot and that I’d see her in a few hours, but as I stared at my wardrobe, picking out an outfit, I started to think that she may finally be right.

For weeks it was too soon. I was too raw from my breakup with Amanda. Her work as a DJ called her away more and more until we barely saw each other. One day she simply said, Goodbye. We looked in each other’s eyes and knew that this was the last time. We kissed, but didn’t linger. That night Katy fed me ice cream, and we watched Supergirl. Every time the lesbians on that show kissed I burst into tears again, which made me a not-fun TV viewing companion, but I couldn’t help it.

Weeks turned into months. I grabbed the black pants that made my butt look great and the cream chiffon shirt with a pearl and rhinestone collar that made me feel sexy. Katy was right. It was time to give myself another chance at true love.

The paper cup Katy handed to me was indeed hot, and the salted caramel drinking chocolate inside it was divine, not too sweet, not too salty, not too bitter, just right. The women at this Lesbians Who Tech event at the local LGBT community center were an interesting bunch. I could see why Katy thought there was a chance for me to meet someone. There were the about-to-graduate and just-graduated techies dreaming of apps that would make them rich. They were cute. There were more established techies, like Emma, who were networking for either a new job or to recruit someone for their company. They were cute, too. Some gals weren’t that techie, but appeared to be looking for love.

They were like me. They knew the difference between an app and a website and how to use both, but they didn’t really care how they worked. These women were there just to be with other lesbians, bi women, queer women, trans women, other smart, beautiful women looking for love like them.

In my head, I was denying
