My father in law introduced me to the Bathroom Readers' Institute books years ago, and I became an instant fan. STRANGE HISTORY is no exception and a delightful addition to the line.Fun, quick read little bites of minutia that never fail to entertain and educate (to a degree). These off the wall tidbits of trivia come in handy at the most unexpected times and can be used to spark conversations, revive flagging ones, and be the source of much hilarity. Lovers of trivia and humor should be pleased with this latest in the series.Reviewed for Miss Ivy's Book Nook Take II & Novels Alive TV

I love books like this where every page is a something new waiting to be discovered. I found it hard to put the book down and even when I wasn't reading it, I was thinking about it. Inside, you can find historical facts encompassing everything from the longest unassisted solo cow flight in recorded history to historical facts about famous figures, to the treasures one can find digging up old privies (I fully expect Outhouse Detectives to be a series on the History Channel sometime in the near future.)

Strange History is a fascinating, entertaining and side-splitting read that will stay with you for a long time. At the very least, you'll never look at an Olympic torch relay the same way again.

A fun book, especially if you enjoy the quirky, weird, or downright strange. For adults or young adults. It's organized so you don't get bored (as if you could). Some parts make you cringe or just raise an eyebrow while other sections will make you laugh out loud. I suggest reading in segments; it's over 400 pages long!Net Galley Feedback

An interesting book to read if you want to learn strange facts about the world. A book that can be dipped in for a few minutes and then put aside. You would certainly learn something most times that you picked up the book. As someone who enjoys history this is a book for me.

Super interesting stuff I never knew. Found myself taking a pause on some pages to Google more on stuff or see if there were pictures because some of it seemed way out there and I needed proof. Stuff checks out. Don't read right before bed or in bed unless you want no sleep because you keep saying, "just one more page..."

Strange History by Bathroom Readers' Institute is a fun book of odd facts and quotes. Some of those quotes are quite good and some of those quotes are so dumb but are suppose to be from "smart" people. Make you really wonder! There is such a variety of history trivia that I can't begin to name the categories but there is something for everyone. This isn't a book to read at one sitting but to read bit by bit. My favorite is the 1930's Slang, so here is a sentence using the '30s slang for you. "Don't be a crumb, I don't care if you're a dead hoofer. Grab your sweet pattotie, jump in your Bouncing Betty and it will be juicy. Don't stop for a grounder!" Now that you read that, grab the book and see what it says! I received this book for a honest review from NetGalley and it in no way effected my review or rating.

This book is an interesting collection of facts and stories. Although it was a bit much to read in one or two settings, I think it is an ideal “bathroom” book. Overall, well worth picking up.

I received this book free from Netgalley and Printers Row Publishing GroupPortable Press, in exchange for a fair and honest review. Thank you!!“Strange History” is an entertaining history book filled with facts and stories that will have you either laughing, or horrified at the events that have occurred in the past. The stories are short and quick to read. It’s easy to dip into when you have just a few minutes to spare for reading. The writing itself definitely engages the reader. The authors obviously had a sense of humor both about the facts they present. The book doesn’t waste time with each fact; the necessary information is given, and then the next section begins. It’s a great read.
