About this ebook
Pepper “Doc” Gearson is Asphalt Bay’s pack doctor. Don’t laugh at the name. It’ll get you injured. Being over four hundred years old Doc has lost hope of ever finding his fated mate. Until, suddenly the pack is blessed with fated mate pairs once again and his hope rekindles. After several months of no one but the previous Alpha’s sons finding their mates his hope begins to die once more. That is, until fate decides to literally knock him to the ground.
Astaroth is one of the seven demon princes of hell. He presides over 40 legions and doubles as Lucifer’s treasurer. Deciding he’s had enough of politics and the endless paperwork, he goes on vacation. Only, his familiar transports him to the wrong destination. Instead of Tahiti, like he planned he ends up in Asphalt Bay.
Doc can’t believe he’s found his mate. It’s still sinking in. Astaroth is just as shocked. Will these two be able to get past the obstacles suddenly coming their way long enough to claim each other or will the chance clip away?

Well Ezra isn't my real name obviously but I liked the name so I decided to use it. I live at home with my five dogs and one cat. I started out writing hetero romance novels but it wasn't where my heart lied. I adore all things paranormal and M/M is by far my favorite genre so I decided to start writing Paranormal Romances. There's a guaranteed happy ending with each of my books even if it may take some time for my guys to get there. I love each and every character on the page as if they were my own children. It sounds weird but that’s how I feel about them. ? I’ve been writing for as long as I can remember but only started actively pursuing it as a career three years ago when I decided to stop working in a salon and pursue writing full time. Since I published my first book in 2014 I have written and released nine other books with many more to come. My current list of projects is longer than my arm so I look forward to writing and creating new stories for my readers to enjoy ?

Bitterness is an awful feeling. Lately, I’ve found myself suffocating under the weight of it. Really, I shouldn’t complain, I’ve had a good life, even though I’ve spent most of it alone. At just over four hundred years old, the hope that I’ll find my fated mate has faded leaving nothing but bitterness behind. Taking a stroll through the forest usually helps clear my head when I’m feeling unusually bitter about the happiness of others but lately, I’ve found my strolls aren’t working as well as they used to. I should’ve taken a bond mate when I had the chance, shared my life with someone at least. The pack has been blessed with mates once more but three months have passed since the last fated mate pair appeared.
I’d begun to hope but as more time passes with no one else finding their fated mate, my hope has started to fade once more. I’m aware that it takes time for someone to find their mate, yet I can’t help feeling discouraged as the months drag on. I’m not exactly young anymore and even though I still have a while yet before my years catch up to me, I’d like to at least have someone to share my life with before I’m too old to continue enjoying it. Hopefully, the Fates will see fit to send me a mate next otherwise I fear I’ll have to take a bond mate or die alone, whichever comes first.
As the pack doctor I’ve seen every member of the pack for one reason or another. Most of the time the reasons for the visit aren’t anything serious but occasionally I get some unusual cases. Like the young Devine and his tiger mate. They came into my office when the tiger, Law? Was that his name? It sounds about right. When Law had come out of a rogue state caused by a drug he’d been injected with. It took some time but with some blood samples from Law I managed to create an antidote that counteracts the serum. I’ve been slowly mass producing it ever since. There’s a part of me that feels we may need it in the future.
Today has been a pretty slow day. I’ve had the usual patients. Most of them just come in to talk. I swear they act like I don’t know what they’re doing. Even though I don’t live on pack lands and rarely go on pack runs the people still find a way to try and cheer me up. It’s nice, knowing I have people who care about me, even if it isn’t in the way that I need. Then again that’s what mates are for and well, I don’t have one of those.
Part of me says I shouldn’t cut myself off from the pack like I am but I can’t help it. After centuries of waiting for my fated mate with no success I can no longer bear to witness the pure happiness of others. Does that make me an asshole? Maybe, but it’s how I feel. My parents were the embodiment of true happiness at least to me. They weren’t fated mates but everyone around sure thought they were. When my parents met they were young and according to my mother it was love at first sight. I sometimes wondered if either of them had ever come across their fated mates and if they did, did they let the moment slip away? As soon as the thoughts enter my mind though I realize my parents weren’t those types of people. If they’d ever met their fated mates I know they likely would’ve gone their separate ways.
Their relationship was a testament to how things could be between two people but seeing bonded pairs
